I've absolutely loved this series. Gene Hunt has to be one of the finest characters created for tv. The period details are great. Best of alll are the hilarious car chases in Hunt's Cortina, and, of course the fight scenes!
If you haven't seen it before - highly recommended
Brilliant - By: Mrs. Jean Staines, 29 Jan 2010 I managed to miss this completely when it was on TV but having heard so many people rave about it, I thought I'd buy the series. So glad I did as it lives up to alll the hype - nostalgic, amusing, clever & well plotted - a combination of good 'cop' drama & a mystery. I've now bought myself series 2 & am thoroughly enjoying it too. Well worth watching.

Good idea,spoilt by weak script,and some mixed acting.
Gene [Philip Glenister],is great,despite the script,and the whole thing is watchable.However, I found myself winding on at times,particularly when Sam [John Simm],is having one of his tortuous,[both for him & us]connections with his comatose self.
Definitely a big hit in this house - By: C. Spencer, 09 Jan 2010 I think my husband has alll the series & he loves it. I'm sure he will watch this again some time. It just brings you back in time & old time cars. That's what must do it for them I recon.
