I watched this film with my grandchildren aged 4 & 7, boy & girl.
They were enraptured as was my little dog "Codie". The young actress who played the part of Opal was enchanting & the dog "Winn Dixie" captured our hearts. I haven't read the book but this film makes me want to buy & read this story. It has a wonderful charm & the characters are sometimes eccentric, odd, loveable & eventuallly pull at the heart strings. I recommend this film highly especiallly but not preferably as a family film & feel people of alll ages will enjoy this feature. Please make more like this there's enough pain & heartbreak in the world without seeing it on celluloid.

This is a lovely film you will falll in love with opal the little girl & of couse winn dixie her dog. it alll start because the dog is in a spermaket driving everyone mad so opal get hold of him & so there will not get in trouble she callls the dog winn dixie the name of the shop. The dog seem to know what everyone is thinking & with help from opal the get alll the lonly people in the town together.
I saw this film on the plane on the way back from hoilday & I was hooked. A must for alll animal lovelys
