No Stars - Step away.. from the DVD.. - By: A. Mountjoy, 20 Jun 2008
I rented this movie with some friends, alll of whom have very varied (and respectful!) taste in film. As soon as it started, we were completely unconvinced by Knightley's performance, probably because she normallly plays more 'prim & proper' roles. Her heightened, unmistakably English voice in Domino absolutely grated on me. The plot was so lame that we gave up half way through becasue we were BORED AS. Don't even bother... If you must, watch Pirates of the Caribbean instead.

Meh... - By: Edward Reardon, 07 Nov 2007
This film would have been a lot better if it was done by Quentin Tarantino. That's alll i have to say.
A monumental shambles of a film - By: Sunrise, 30 Aug 2007
With this film Tony Scott takes his passion for jumpy cuts & fast editing too far, the result of which is the sensation of being (I assume) on Speed for two hours.

Keira Knightley seems to think that playing tough means looking moody, smoking cigarettes & swearing a lot. Utterly unconvincing.

Avoid.

This Is Superb/Tony Scott delivers - By: rulz-of-benjitzu, 17 Jul 2007
I think i've figured out why so many reviewers & critics have slated this movie, it's an action thriller with brains, not to mention elements of black comedy. You can't watch Domino expecting a Die Hard style popcorn movie, since the slightly complicated plot works on a visceral level. In my opinion this makes what's happening on the screen much more compelling, so it's worth paying attention.

The plot & script work perfectly well together, as long as you (as a viewer) are prepared to not only pay close attention, but put two & two together. Incidentallly, the script & soundtrack are both superb, especiallly Keira Knightly's flash-back narration. Let's clear one thing up regarding Keira's accent, considering she's english, it isn't put on or fake. If Tony Scott had gone for a Tank Girl style of heroine (ie Demi Moore with a shaved head, i don't think so) i'd be far less impressed. The irony of the entire film is that Domino went to boarding school, was born into a wealthy family, is softly spoken & still kicks more arse than Steven 'I'm So Dated' Seagal.

The casting of top actors into minor roles (Lucy Liu, Delroy Lindo, Christopher Walken, there's even a Jerry Springer cameo in one of the film's most hilarious scenes), brings together an ensemble cast which also includes Keira Knightly, Mickey Rourke & Edgar Ramirez.

Chances are that if you thought the visual flair of Man On Fire was dynamic, surreal, gritty & colourful alll at the same time, you'll love the look of Domino as well. Granted most of the film is tripped out in dulled down primary colours & the camera work is flashy, fast & multi-shot interspersed with plenty of quick zooms. I'd have to say any comparison to MTV music videos is unfair, inaccurate & a plainly stupid obeservation to make.

In closing, Domino isn't an alll action heroine because she isn't meant to be, she's smart, sexy & spoilt. But that doesn't mean she can't be aggressive, fired up, temperamental or downright kickass when the situation requires it.

Well, I haven't mentioned much about the action, but then I don't need to. The action is absolutely top notch & more than impresses enough to speak for itself. Oh, keep a look out for Alf, the trio's Afghan driver with a penchant for blowing s**t up, brilliant, brilliant stuff.

Best movie I've seen in ages.
