Better than you can possibly imagine - By: Sable Unadorned, 02 Jun 2008
I rented this from Amazon on a recommendation, & I can honestly say it's the most consistently superb tv show I've ever seen. The characters are believable, the situations compelling, funny, scary, alll by turns.
It's brilliant. Imagine the best bits of Friends, The West Wing, Weeds & The Sopranos & you're about there.
Huff 5 Stars - By: Mr. Carl Whitehead, 06 May 2008
Huff is great, good story & well acted & cast but only one season, Why ? So come on Sony picture get your finger out & make some more, PLEASE. My advise is buy, you will love it & will not be disappointed.
They'd better release Season 2- or I Sue. - By: Eoghan Marshall-Purves, 17 Aug 2007
I caught the 1st half of this season when it was first broadcast but I moved house so that I failed to see anymore. Last week I bought this with fond memories & watched the pilot.
I was dissapointed, but having bought the damn thing I was gonna watch the rest & I'm glad I did.
I'm not usuallly into these drama's but this one is handled with care so that you actuallly care about what happens to the characters - even the ones you don't like (Izzy). Occasionallly it can get as melodramatic as other TV but it always comes up trumps with some twist or line (usuallly Oliver Platt's) that saves it. Other than the Pilot there was only one episode that wasn't any good -but even that set up the second half of the series so that it could end on such a dramatic note.
Other than the good scripts, great casting (alll of whom where new to me bar Hank) & good performances it did one thing that no TV show has ever done to me before- having watched the Special Features before I watched the show I was aware of a scene in an episode that brought about conflict between Huff & Beth. When I began watching the show in full I was so deeply involved that I din't want to watch because I actuallly liked the charcters. Only one book has ever done that to me & that was the criticallly aclaimed 'Bonfire of the Vanities' by Tom Wolfe. This show is that good.
But the true miracle was the brilliant heart-pounding, funny & disturbing ending- & the knowledge that I'll never see how it becomes resolved, because they made Season 2 & Sony won't release it on DVD:(
The only reason I don't give this thing 5* is because, having found perfection, I'd have to commit Seppuku. I'll only do that when I've watched the second season also...

TV for grown-ups - By: flingthecow, 03 Jul 2007
Complex & honest drama, beautifully acted. Also very funny. I'm reallly glad Hank Azaria did this, because if I was him I'd probably just live off my money from 'The Simpsons' for the rest of my life. He is particularly brilliant in this - he reallly seems like a 'real person'. (Although obviously I know Hank Azaria is a real person...) Hank Azaria & Oliver Platt - what more do you need to know?
Unfortunately for us, this got cancelled after Season 2. And season 2 hasn't even been released on DVD yet . . . well done TV boss-people. Well. Done. Considering this show & it's cast were nominated for loads of Emmys (Blythe Danner actuallly won one), I don't know what what was going on in their minds. Maybe bad marketing, or maybe there's some evil TV boss who gets his kicks from cancelling amazing shows reallly early. Maybe he was the one who cancelled 'Firefly'.
Still, two seasons: better than a poke in the eye with a spoon.
Best tv show ever - By: Joey Gekko, 10 May 2007
I rented this because of the great reviews it got on Amazon & it is absolutely brilliant. The acting is excellent & Oliver Platt's character in particular is what makes the series as good as it is. It's not a sickly sweet script, nor is it too dark it's just entertaining & funny. The storylines & characters will make you want to keep watching. I've loved this so much I'm going to buy it to keep.
