Effective Effects - By: Steven Taylor, 28 Jun 2008
I agree that the effects are dated in this film but i don't agree that in
comparison with current CGI-inclusive films that that alone makes it a bad
Film-Excessive use of computer simulation makes both audiences & directors
Lazy & furthermore true & effective drama must have a story as well as
Excellent actors to show it...This is mythology & the actors act it well
Enough,if formallly...I think that stop-frame & models have a surrealistic
Effect that transcends technical fashions although I have nothing against
CGI...Let's see a CGI version by alll means but if you want more realism
that would include innovations like a menu choice for ancient Greek...
Technology without a good tale & clever actors is frankly a mindless
Spectacle on a par with a plotless virtual gladiatorial of mere episodes
Which,I think, would soon palll for most older viewers...This film is a
Classic & I commend & recommend it to new fans

Dismal - By: Curmudgeon, 04 May 2008
When this film was first released Star Wars had already kicked off the CG era, & Clash of the Titans' tired retread of former Harryhausen glories looked distinctly passe. What reallly killed the film, though, was an atrocious script, muddy photography, dreary & unconvincing monsters, & a star-studded cast obviously present for the paycheck. One of the worst films in Harryhausen's esteemed career - & of most of the actors - & one to avoid.
Bravo! - By: Danielle Williams, 05 Jan 2008
This film should be classed as one of the greatest films of alll time. I can't fault it in the slightest. The storyline was just epic & for it's time, the graphics were the best. So much effort was put into the modelling & design of the mythological creatures. I remember watching this for the first time as a child & being absolutely petrified of Medusa. Even now still, decades later, I am still rather chilled at her grace. The stop motion method of moving her, gave it that extra horror factor as she seemed stiff & zombie like. You'd definitely not want to meet her when walking down a dark allley way!
Ray Harryhausens Masterwork - By: Coach Potato, 16 Nov 2007
This, Harryhausen's last film is easily my personal fave. People have had a go about how outdated the special effects are, & well they are, but they possess charm & wonderful character.
To win the hand of his beloved Andromeda, Perseus (Harry Hamlin) most face many perils (including Medusa) to save his beloved from being sacrificed to the Kraken. He has to complete this task within 30 days which gives the film a sense of urgency. Definately one to watch.
