wonderful cinema - By: John RAINONE, 06 Jul 2008
It was for films like this that we used to queue up in the rain outside the local Granada. It starts off in the most pleasing & heartwarming way & keeps it going right through to the delightful & amusing ending. Having seen this film many years ago, I have since had a lovely evening in the company of my grandchildren listening to them laughing at our heros & hissing at the baddies. A purchase of this film would, I'm sure, make a perfect gift for family or friends. Please don't let it pass by.
Bogey Man is funny......... - By: Mr. J. Hulme, 22 Apr 2007
This film is the sort you should watch on rainy Sunday afternoon. Where you are transported to a better time & world. It's one of those films which when finished you almost wake from a trance/dream state. You first thoughts or words are that was a great film.

In this farce Bogart plays a blinder, comical to some degree, pulled off masterly by a class actor. Was this Bogart showing another side to the audiences in the future, saying I am no hard man. In fact in this film he sings, alongside Aldo Ray & Peter Ustinov. Who also put in some cracking performances. Basil Rathbone is the charcter you love to hate, it is almost a pantomime in parts. Played to in my case an audience of one. But still loved every moment.

Here's looking at you kid.

An Absolute Joy! - By: David Lusher, 14 Feb 2007

This is a wonderful little film, with super performances by Humphrey Bogart, a youthful Peter Ustinov, & Aldo Ray. Basil Rathbone plays the baddie with his usual high quality. However, the star of the show is the delightful Leo G Carroll. The comedy is understated; subtle at times (particularly with Ustinov), but Carroll as the bemused, innocent & trusting shopkeeper in the hands of three convicts with hearts of gold is a real treat. A must buy!
Bogart goes for a comedy! - By: websurfer, 27 May 2006
This 1955 film is one of the last pictures in legendary Bogart's carrer. Directed by "Casablanca Man" Michael Curtiz, one of the best directors of the golden age of Hollywood this is a very entertaining comedy! With a great cast lead by Bogart youll have the oportunity to see Bogart in a rare comic role & in widescreen & technicolor!!! The dvd edition is very basic but with a good quality print & transfer this is probably the only chance to have this almost forgoten film in your collection. Buy it!
