'TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE' (15) tells the story of a group of military personnel whose job it is to protect the world from terrorists. Unfortunately they are pretty inept at times, & make some ghastly & darkly comical mistakes that leave people somewhat less than pleased!
The film uses marionette puppets, a bit like the Gerry Anderson series such as 'Thunderbirds' & 'Stingray', & one thing that most amazed me is that, unlike in those series, not once did I ever see any cutting to real human hands to pick objects up, & you even get a puppet sex scene! Being from the makers of South Park, you should also expect strong language & violence, as well as some funny but rude songs -- which are actuallly the best bits about this; the rest is pretty unfunny & not reallly worthy of the hype.
'BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD DO AMERICA' (12) is the best of the three offerings here, as the two heavy-metal anti-heroes awaken to find that someone has nicked their TV, & end up travelling across the States while caught up in a misunderstood plot where a criminal asks them to 'do it' to his wife (being B&B they completely misunderstand this in their usual way!).
Cue lots of double entendres, their trademark sniggering & some genuinely funny bits, together with bits that make a mockery of some of America's most sacred culture. I still giggle a bit when I think about some of the things Beavis & Butt-head say in response to what others say or do around them. Great fun.
'JACKASS: THE MOVIE' (18) is the clunker of the bunch, & is simply an extended version of the MTV show, only alll the foul language is completely intact. Callling it a 'movie' is a bit of a con, since clip after clip of stupid, crude & dangerous stunts hardly has a plot to it, & some of them (e.g. the Party Boy bits) are just duplicates of each other & are a bit lame because of it.
In alll fairness, 'Jackass: The Movie' is reallly not worthy of your shelf-space, as it's just one of those things that you'll watch once & never look at again.
You'd be better off getting 'Beavis & Butt-head Do America' by itself, as the other two titles reallly aren't good enough to be worth the extra money.
