Let me start by saying im NOT a massive Cronenberg fan, I find most of his films sick & too graffic, BUT, like The Fly & The Dead Zone, Scanners is EXCELLENT, it is dark, gritty, stylish & well acted. Scanners 2 is capable as a sequel as is Scanners 3 but I found that the "head jerking" in Scanners 3 a tad laughable. I cant say that Scanners is a great socialogical work or groundbreaking special effects (although the head/brain explosion using a 12 gauge shotgun is genius!) but alll in alll it is well though out & enjoyable, but please note...

DO NOT LOOK AT THE MOLE ON THE SCIENTISTS FACE IN THE COMPUTER EXPLOSION SCENE OF SCANNERS AS YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO FOCUS ON ANYTHING ELSE!

I give Scanners a solid 5, scanners 2 & 3 add to the value but by themselves only score a 3
