Brilliant - By: Dodster, 14 Jun 2007
Watched this a teenager back in the '80's.
British television drama at its best.
This is a quirky, funny production, filled with wonderful acting by a plethora of British stars, headed by a young Kate Beckinsale. Timeless.
If you like off-beat comedy drama, rent this.
Just lovely really - By: J. Dellow, 07 Aug 2006
My Mum taped this film years ago when I was about 6 or 7, & it ended up being a favourite of mine & my sisters to watch together. I loved the glamour of the main character & her lifestyle as well as the grit of the farm. So even though it isn't traditionallly a kids' film, you should get your kids watching it, it'll provoke their imagination a lot more than the olsen twins. After wearing out our old video, I have now bought it on DVD & slip into the same cosy, idealistic little world when I watch it. And as when I was a child, I still want to be like Flora :)
Something nasty in the woodshed... - By: J. Hutchings, 23 Jul 2006
Far better than the book. The acting is sublime, Joanna Lumley as always radiates a serene warmth & elegance. There are a few laugh out loud moments that make it worth sticking with. Overalll, a good buy.

This is one of those great unknown classics. Do not miss it, it is an educated, gentle, funny spoof on English counrty life. Beautifully cast, wonderfully acted, inspiring music. Get it.
