Burnie the genius - By: Christopher Burnside, 31 Oct 2006
This show is a classic. Potrays Govan perfectly & gives you plenty of hilarity, a must see
90s Scotland Revisited - By: Dismal Angel, 27 Jun 2006
This show is - not surprisingly - based around the main character Rab C. Nesbitt (played by Gregor Fisher, who is a genius actor). He's been unemployed for many happy (and unhappy) years, & most of those years have been spent drinking in his local pub.

Despite his limited education, obvious lack of employment & constant alcoholism, he's a somewhat intelligent being who likes to wander aimlessly talking to the viewers in a somewhat philosophical manner as if he's talking to a very good friend.

Each episode is full of hilarity, absurdity, & every so often, there are hints of emotion that touch you right where you live.

Covering everything from marrital problems, alcoholism, religion, coming of age, the struggles of parenthood & even politics, this show has it alll, & tells alll with complete honesty & the general lack of sugar-coating that appears in most television shows today.

Give it a try - Gregor Fisher's acting will blow you away.

unsung hero of comedy - By: PAUL MURPHY, 03 Feb 2006
to start off this has got to be the most gifted performance by gregor fisher as rab,if you love raw humour this is for you.most comedies improve with age,but the first two series were amazing especiallly wee burnie played by the great late eric cullen.i cant put on a review how good this show is,you reallly have to purchase it for yourselves.
The wisest man in Govan - By: Christopher Bishop, 29 Apr 2005
Being as I have resided in the USA these last five years I have not been able to see Rab & I'm glad to be able to tell you that I was most pleased to see Rab finaly released on DVD.
I had these series on VHS when I lived at home in the UK & there are no differences in this DVD & the tapes actualy they look like they have just been recorded straight on to DVD from the tapes & no extras.
Oh well not to worry as im a big fan of big rab & the gang I wasn't that upset about any extras I was just so glad to be able to watch these classic episodes again.
The 3 DVDs are seasonal greet. & series 1-2.
Amazon give great service & I thorougly recommend them.
