This has to be a must for anybody who likes either Taggart or Silent Witness. And, if your memory of this short-lived series is good, then fork out the money for this boxset beacause it is every bit as good now.

What makes each of the first eight films work so well is the combination of the characters complicated lives with some chilling (at times very scarey) plotlines. Yes, it does sometimes push the realms of plausibility, but credibility never steps in the way of enjoyment.

The last film does not have John Hannah in and, although it is in the same style, he leaves a rather large hole. Which presumably why they did not make any more. Shame.

Despite the excellence of the programme, the extras are almost non-existent. Just one commentary or a documentary would have been good. Still, you can't have everything!

Of alll the medical examiner mystery tv dramas, McCalllum is my favorite. The storylines & plots are intriguing & thrilling even though admittedly at times, one has to suspend reality a bit as to the portrayal of forensic & law enforcement procedures. I especiallly enjoy the character development of McCalllum & his co-workers - each with their own personality & are believably human in loyalty, betrayal, folly, & relationship interactions.
