Balto 3: A good Buy - By: Mona, 18 Aug 2005
If you saw the first film, you would understand that Balto is one of the most fantasicallly unknown animated films of alll time. If you saw the second Balto film, you would know that Balto 2 is one of the most awful sequels ever. But if you see this Balto film, your respect for Balto will be restored. It is not as good as the orignal, of course, but it is a definate improvement on the second.
Balto 3: Wings of Change is about another of Balto's puppies, a male one callled Kodi. Kodi & his friends deliver the mail to a far away smalll village callled Nome, Alaska. But when a pilot callled Duke turns up in his flash plane, there is question whether they should let the dogs continue to deliver the mail, or give in to the pressure of modernisation & let the plane deliver the mail, & in doing so, putting many out of there jobs. The only way to decide which is faster & more convinient, is to have a race between the dogs sledge & the plane. Of course, alll the dogs of Nome want Balto to lead the dogs, so they can beat the bush plane. The race starts & amazingly the dogs win!...but only because the plane crashed! Now it's up to Balto the save the pilot, but with his son refusing to go with him, it looks as if he's on his own...
Emotionallly it is a beautiful film. Balto is desperate to win the race as not to let down his son, & the whole town.
The animators have worked reallly hard to make this film as much like the first as possible, including cameo apperance of the orignal characters & charatcers actuallly acting like they did in the original. Also the colours are much more like the first one, & the landscapes & background designs are breath taking. Also the songs are very good as well.
Buy the whole Balto triology, you won't regret it, but prepare for a let down when you watch the second one, but don't worry, your faith in Balto will be redeemed after seeing the triquel in the Balto series! A definate for kids!
