Parent trap - By: Angela Rhodes, 30 Sep 2008
I think this film is a real classic. Even though the remake was reallly good, i'd have to say that in this case I reallly do prefer the original film. Hayley Mills is so comical playing twins!
They are so mischievous, you can't help but to like these characters.
It is great the way the twins meet at camp & then not just realise that they hate each other but finallly realise that they are twins that had been seperated & each live with one of their parents.
From then on, they hatch a plan to swap places so that they can meet the parent that they had been missing for alll these years.
It is a very funny film & I especiallly love the way, after they have been found out proceed to get rid of their father's new girlfriend so that they can try to get their parents back together.
Well worth watching.
A guideline for movies succeeding it - By: HollyO, 17 Nov 2007
People often get caught up in the Lindsay Lohan version of this tale. Or they remark on how cute 'It Takes Two' is with the Olson twins. But this was first! And this was best. Hayley Mills is glorious & likeable as both Susan & Sharon, in one of the first movies of her career. Don't miss this beneath the squabble over remakes.
Hayley's best - By: Joanna Davison, 08 Sep 2006
This is one of my favourite films. Hayley Mills plays twins who do not know the other one exists. They meet at camp & plot to switch places so they can meet their respective parents.
The plan is that their parents will have to meet to switch back the twins, romance will be rekindled & they will live happily ever after (which of course happens)!
In the midst of alll of this plotting, there is a horrid fiancee to get rid of & a major make over to be done.
I have watched this film too many times to count - I never get bored of it (and I'm 28!). Hayley plays the part brilliantly & the camera work of splitting the film is very good, though they have obviously got a double in for some shots which you can tell isn't Hayley.
I love it, a must for any young lady!
A double dose of Hayley Mills - By: Miguel M. Santos, 04 Feb 2005
Hayley Mills plays twin sisters Sharon & Susan separated when they were one year old by their parents' divorce. The two girls grew unaware of each other until they bump to each other in a summer camp. Soon they are plotting on how to bring Mum & Dad together again. This is a favourite of mine since I saw it as a kid some twenty years ago, working so well then as now. Hayley Mills, Maureen O'Hara & the rest of the cast are very good & the script flows wonderfully under the director's hand. Their comic timming is just wonderful. The DVD is quite good & has managed to keep most of the extras from the American release (which is quite good, considering what Disney did for instance with Pollyanna). The copy is in excellent shape & I am sure it will entertain both the kids & their parents.
