Greed is Good - By: The Brompton Sheriff, 27 Jan 2008
Yet another film that can only be watched on multi region. But worth it! A film that proves 'greed is good' & yet is a pleasure to watch!
A superb film - By: , 11 Feb 2006
This film is a pure socialism verses capitalism parable.

Danny Devito is the hard nosed corporate raider, Larry the Liquidator, he just oozes sleaze but with an undertone of real class.

Gregory Peck is the sentimental manager of the target corporation, he is alll heart but is like King Canute trying to hold back the tide.

Penelope Ann Miller is the glamourous defence lawyer who provides the love interest & pulls the rabbit out of the hat at the end.

The story is simple but strong enough to retain your interest. The acting is good, with excellent interplay between Devito & Miller. Danny Devito's speech at the end is fantastic.

I suspect one's enjoyment of this film is down to your political leanings, if you are a bleeding heart, left wing, labour sympathiser you aren't going to enjoy this film but if you like your "capitalist steak" oozing blood, you'll love it.

Danny De Vito's best film to date and a quality script - By: Chris Stone, 26 Apr 2003
This vastly underrated films is one of my alll time favourites & one of DeVito's few leading roles ever. The script is tight, crisp, sometimes funny & the Jewison direction is up to his usual high standards. This film is almost like a more user friendly version of Walll Street but with a romance in between. Watch out for DeVito's speech near the end which for my money outdoes Michael Douglas's "greed is good" & Ben Affleck's Boiler Room sales speech. Several other Hollywood stars hold solid supportive roles but DeVito is the main attraction & is in sparkling form. I highly recommend this film for 20 or 30 somethings or indeed anyone in search of a non-formulaic picture. Gutted it's not on DVD though - criminal.
