This film is reallly excellent, brilliant story, acting & directing.
I was just wondering if someone can shed any light on the reason behind not being able to buy it new...?
Leon cleans up! - By: Film King 365, 24 Jun 2008 Leon is a great action thriller with amazing actoin & suspense from the start. Very good acting from Jean Reno, alongside Natalie Portman who makes her film debut portraying a troubled 12 year old determind to follow in Leon's footsteps.
Gary Oldman steal the show as a superb bent cop - By: Garry Williams, 11 Mar 2008 A film about an elderly hitman who takes a 12 year old orphan girl under his wing, sparking an ambiguous relationship in which the pair co-habit and, among other things, play 'dress-up' - in today's climate, Daily Mail readers would probably have raised an uproar. However, despite the deliberately blurred boundaries which exist between the central couple, this film is exceptionallly touching, & both lead performances are incredibly moving & sympathetic.
As the eponymous Leon, Jean Reno convinces as both a fumbling man-child with no social skills, & a clinicallly effective hitman, performing jobs with a lethal detachment. Luc Besson handles the mix between action & burgeoning relationship with great skill, & the final third of the film has an unforgettable emotional punch.
One of my fav movies of all time - By: J. BOWLER, 15 Feb 2008 1st saw this film when i was about 13 & loved it then, have since seen it at least another 40 times & it just never gets boring, the actors cast for the film were perfect for the roles, with a stunning performance from portman & gary oldman as brilliant as ever, jean reno steals it for me though as the pig loving italian hitman.
Yet another masterpiece from besson.
If you have not seen this film yet you are missing out on a real treat, dont think i have ever talked to anyone that hasn't at least said it is fantastic.
Powerhouse Movie that all others followed!!! - By: Kenny_B, 10 Feb 2008 This is not a movie for the faint hearted as it is a real bloodbath that explores the corrupt & the innocent sides of the world in which Leon exists.
As a "cleaner" for hire he is ruthlessly efficient, however he is manipulated by his naive outlook on life as a loner who shuns everyone until he saves Natalie Portman's
character from death & becomes both her benefactor & teacher .
Absolutely recommended as a must see movie as it has so many layers that I discover each time I watch it.
