An Irresistable Film - By: , 08 Feb 2002
Wild In The Country is a tremendous film about a country boy with a short fuse & literary aspirations.

Elvis is excellent in the role, & from the start we know that this is going to be something special.

When he almost kills his brother in a fight, the best solution is a regular visits to a social worker/psychiatrist who tries to figure him out & set him on the right path.

The dialogue is great in this films: 'I have the mark of cain on me' & the part where Elvis quotes the bible in latin, then translates to English 'My god, my god, why have you forsaken me'

As the film moves on the plot thickens, although its always straightforward & never confusing......its definately irresistable & very memorable.

An atypical but charming film - By: , 03 Feb 2001
Perhaps only dedicated Elvis fans will know of - & appreciate- this unusual film but take a chance, it's infinitely more enjoyable than you mght readily assume.

Sandwiched somewhere betwen the early rock pictures & the mid-late Sxties froth that obscured his talent, Wild gives Elvis the rare opportunity to have a crack at a credible role, this time a young boy with a talent for writing who finds himself on the wrong side of the law.A sympathetic pyschiatrist- played by Hope Lange- offers him the chance of redemption & perhaps something more. The romance between these two is thoroughly persuasive & gives the film a strong emotional anchor that lends substance to a sometimes creaky plot. The music too arises naturallly here from the situation, not bursting through irrelevantly as is often the case.

There are no barnstorming numbers here but if you're seeking a slice of something distinctively different look no further, Wild in the Country possesses charm in abundance.
