I always loved the story of Mulan, I remember seeing it in the cinema when I was very little & I just fell in love with the beautiful settings & the powerful story of one woman's struggle to fight against the huns without anyone knowing her true idenity. So I bought it & I loved it even more, there are some lovely songs & colourful people you just adore. There are some grown-up themes in this that make it more intresting but some children may not understand them. Mulan 2 is not as good as the first but it's a feel-good one with love & honour & some funny moments with Mushu (shame that Eddie Murphy only voiced the first & not the second) In alll, a very beautiful & enchanting stories in one boxset.
2 too much! - By: , 23 Dec 2004 I doubt you will find a better Disney film of recent times than Mulan & yet it seems to travel quite quietly in terms of the other films produced by them.
Mulan is a story from Disney carrying the morals of family, acceptance & of being true to yourself.
The main character , being a young girl, unable to find acceptance in Empirial China, will appeal to girls more than boys, despite the morals carrying universal importance.
Mulan is a great story for any young girl to enjoy.
Mulan 2 on the other hand is why this product has 4 stars instead of 5. As with nearly alll Disney sequels it is made for DVD/video & therefore lacks what makes Mulan great. Of course, there is a heartwarming story, & alll the voices but Eddie Murphey seem to have returned, they just forgot the zest of what made Mulan great.
I will not get much use from Mulan 2 now I have watched it, but I will continue to watch Mulan for a long time to get a boost & that "feel-good" smile!
