Absolutely dire! - By: Roymatt, 11 Jan 2008
Sorry, but this movie destroyed a classic!
It's spy-kids in space!
This movie could have been the beginning of a very successful movie series like Star Wars or Star trek. Why aim it exclusively at 6 year olds?
The fact that you can now pick up the DVD for £1 in bargain bins anywhere says it alll.
The actors were mis-cast, (except Ben Kingsley who was excellent as the hood) FAB 1 was a FORD!!!!, the Thunderbirds craft were ok, but had none of the original 'style' of the TV craft. I mean, TB2 is a world famous icon now. Why mess with it???
The SFX were APPALLING!!!
I've seen beter computer graphics on old Amstrad games!
And worst of alll, the story was RUBBISH!
There wasn't actuallly any 'real' rescue in the movie that needed International Rescue!
Even if you find this DVD at £1, which is easy, DON'T BUY IT!
If it were possible to give this movie '0' stars, I would.
Its Not what it was. - By: Bennett, 25 Aug 2006
I remember Thunderbirds as it was. With the strings. Slightly bad as it have been, it was still an integeral part of my childhood. This film almost destroys everything that Gerry Anderson built in the 32 episodes & two movies he made. Tin Tin & Alan are fine being young, but where in the hell did Brains' son come from?!?
The thunderbirds are dissapointingly different, with Thunderbird Three being the closest to the original. On Thunderbird Five, the docking mechanism is completley different. People may say the reason for these differences was so that it would fit in with modern times, but the Thunderbirds themselves are works of fiction. If its supposed to fit in with modern technology, why is there a monorail across the thames?
Calll me a penickety old person, but I was almost ashamed at times in this movie.
Yet again, Hollywood have ruined my childhood.....
Great for kids - By: Mr. Andrew Moore, 09 Jul 2005
My son loves it, I wanted the original puppet series!
Good escapist nonesense for the young & the toys are great to re enact the film. If your 30 plus though, get the original series instead!
5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! - By: , 07 Jan 2005
It the best SFX movie. Don't let new looking crafts & FAB 1 put you off, or the fact that it's aim at younger people. Don't put it down, it's still Thunderbirds, but instead of the old tv series trying to be set in the future, the movie is set in todays world. This movie is F A B! Everyone love this film. Action alll the way with 5 4 3 2 1 Thunderbirds are go!
Thunderbirds are F.A.B. - By: Keith Joseph, 22 Nov 2004
A reallly good escapist childrens film - Tracy senior, Brains, the Hood & baddies, Lady P & Parker are excellent (as is her unbranded Pink 'Rolls' - no in your face FORD logo thank goodness). Acting from the older Tracy brothers is strictly on the Stingray level but at least you can't see their strings (it is alll rather tongue in cheek heroics). Young Alan Tracy & chums are very likeable teenager leads. My 8 year old son loved it at the cinema (despite reallly not wanting to see it as he thought the puppet show original childish). For kids I would definately buy the gift box set DVD - they have good value little models of the show craft & my son likes to move the models to follow the action as he watches the DVD. OK its not spy kids or Harry Potter - its THUNDERBIRDS are go...
