Samson And Delilah - By: daggy finest, 18 Jul 2007
I have to agree with the previous reviewer, this is worth no stars but 5 turkeys & is quite an insult to the 1949 version of Samson And Delilah
starring Victor Mature & Hedy Lemarr which has yet to be release on DVD?
If anyone has bought this nonsense then you have wasted your money, lucky for me a mate wasted his cash on this & has now sold this on e-bay for next to nothing.
Poor acting & generallly Poor with no quality save your money & wait for the 1949 version to come out, you won't be disappointed unless you have trouble sleeping as this will put you to sleep, trust me as after 20 minutes i could not tell you what was happening.
If you like boring films then this one is for you.
This has been given 1 star under duress.
A golden turkey of biblical proportions - By: Cecil Be The Man, 05 Dec 2006
If it's comedy you're after, this is the film for you; if it's quality drama & an incisive interpretation of a great Biblical legend, forget it. Scarcely can such a stella cast have been assembled producing such awful acting & under the appallling mis-direction of no less than Peter Bogdanovich, one of the trendiest most celebrated directors of the 60s & 70s. This review is being written just before Christmas & this little movie will undoubtedly go down in film history as one of the biggest turkeys ever made. It's hilarious!
Watch the polystyrene fly as Samson destroys the temple; amaze yourself at how respected veterans Michael Gambon & Dianna Rigg can make the wooden scenery look life-life; wonder at what sort of fee must have been on offer for Denis Hopper to have put his name to this; & just stand back in open-mouthed shock as you watch Elizabeth Hurley put in an acting performance that should have attracted Biblical thunderbolts. This is the sort of film that should attract themed parties where people dress up as the characters, put on the DVD, ham-along to the ridiculous script & roll around on the carpet having the funniest night of their lives.
I thorougly recommend it to turkey enthusiasts everywhere & it deserves one of the biggest & richest stuffings alll served on a silver platter with plenty of ham trimmings. Unbelievable!
