I know that if you are a Top Cat fan, then you will probably already know this but I am going to say this anyway. Top Cat was inspired by one of the oldest & greatest ever sitcoms, the absolutely timeless, The Phil Silvers Show (Sgt. Bilko), in fact one of the characters from that sitcom, Private Duane Doberman (Maurice Gosfield) provided the voice in this for the character Benny the Balll who, unsuprisingly is very similar to Private Duane Doberman. There are many classic timeless Hanna-Barbera cartoons & Top Cat is one of my alll time favourites, enjoyable as a child but still clever & enjoyable as an adult.
I don't reallly need to say what Top Cat is about because I am sure that if you are reading this, then you will most likely know even more than I do but if for some reason you have absolutely no idea, it is about a gang of cats, the leader callled unsuprisingly, T.C. who along with his cat friends consistently get up to no good with T.C doing as little as work as possible, thats what is friends are for, but just one real problem, the ever presence of Officer Charlie Dibble, who continuously & thankfully fails miserably to get them out of the city because of their sometimes illegal scams. A TIMELESS HANNA-BARBERA CLASSIC.
In reply to Top Cat Fan, keep your eyes open because Top Cat is finallly going to be released soon on Region 2. I don't know the exact date but I am almost certain that it will be released this year, the downside is that it says Top Cat volume one, so this will mean it is not the complete series & I don't know yet how many episodes there will be on this volume one & how much it will cost but if this is for certain, then I will be a little annoyed, especiallly as this Region 1 version has alll 30 episodes plus extras & has been out for three years now, let's see what happens.
Region 2 version please - By: Top Cat Fan, 31 Jul 2007 Having loved this programme as a child I would love to own a DVD of the whole series which I can actuallly play. Please, please, please hurry up & issue a version for alll the British fans of this loveable rogue. I'm sure it would sell.
