Not as funny as it used to be - By: Bwasiz, 28 Nov 2008
As a teenager I remember I thoroughly enjoyed this. Relentless & full of youthful testosteron & ignorance Eddy confirms each & everyones insecurities so common for the young market he targets, & he had me in stitches.
Now, many years later I found myself watching the show again & wondering what he would tell his kids when they accidentallly come across this show.
Even though the show is mostly demeaning towards women, as a man I feel somewhat offended as well. Every man cheats? Is that what he said? We alll do it & we have to do it?
...I guess I simply do not relate with this kind of macho talk anymore & I hope Eddy does not too. Hm, maybe Bill Cosby was right...

I suppose I was naive to expect anything more than brash, base humour from a comedian such as Eddie Murphy but even I couldn't believe how bad this performance was. His overly simplistic view of the complex relationships between men & women evinces little humour & just helps brand him an ignorant arrogant mysoginist.
Typical joke come rant "I like funny woman. I hate those shy women. But I would only sleep with a funny woman if she was reallly attractive". Hmmmm. Hilarious.
The whole show just left a nasty taste in my mouth which is probably why I found myself drifting off for large parts.
His humour has alll the style, taste & discernment as his dress for the show (a bright purple leather suit for those who are fortunate not too have wasted 90 minutes of their life).
Impressions are great - By: Jay, 23 Apr 2007
Eddie Murphy Raw is the second stand up film Eddie Murphy did & it's just as funny. The topics froms [...], [...], Wacko Jacko & Mr. T are alll very very funny. Some of the film's best moments are when Eddie does impressions. If you've never seen this film you're in for a treat.
Sorry - dont agree - By: Chris Duncan, 28 Feb 2007
It's ok, but no way is it 'legendary' or genius. Don't get me wrong but Eddie comes off as a real woman hater in this. I don't find sexist comedy offensive as long as it is done with talent & intelligence but Eddie just uses the standard comic sterotype (Women be after yo money & men don't love women they just wanna get laid) for the entire show. Maybe it seemed funnier back then but in today's age it just seems a bit childish. Compared to the likes of Pryor or Hicks this is just a guy doing funny voices saying quite nasty stuff. I did laugh out loud at some bits, & we were alll drunk, but there were long pauses between the laughter & eventuallly we turned it off & put on Bill Bailey.
Its not awful but it definitely ain't genius.
classic comedy, one of the great shows of all time - By: sean paul mccann, 07 Dec 2006
these days eddie murphy is ashamed of his two stand up comedy shows due to the content & the miniorities & sexual orientation that he rips through with unrelenting fashion.
Now i aint gonna say anything on that matter but what i know is that this is a legendary show that has lasted the test of time, doesnt sound aged, and is stll as funny today as it was then.
The show is coarse & crude but funny,so many classic lines of stand up are here, any one that has watched it can still repeat the lines with a fellow viewer & still laugh & while i couldnt possibly run through my favourite jokes here for fear of being censored, the sketch where his dad is drunk remain the funniest moment in stand up of alll time, priceless
