i was so disappointed with this film. I normallly try to disregard reviews if i reallly want to see a film & then watch it anyway but in this instance i wish i'd listened to overyone else!!Dreadfully poor story!!
Absolutely terrible - By: Ms. B. Williams, 12 May 2006
What is it with Robert De Niro these days? One of the best actors around does not seem to have an eye lately for a dud film & this mind numbing mess takes the biscuit. The premise of this story is a couple who's kid gets run over on his 8th birthday. Taking advantage of the couples grief a disgraced doctor (De Niro) visits them & offers his services to clone their child. All is well & good until the kid turns the age he died originallly & starts becoming akin to the antichrist. "Why did this happen?" you may ask & alll is revealed later on in the movie. The fact is though by that time you don't care. The kid acting in the part as the clone is extremely annoying & so is every other character in this movie. It is not in the slightest bit scary & the ending is appallling but by this time even with mouth to mouth resucitation this film could not be saved.
Woeful Film - By: L. Davidson, 07 Apr 2006
"Godsend" is one of the poorest films that I have seen for some time. The plot is predictable, the dialogue is cliched & the acting is very ordinary .Quite what Robert De Niro was doing in this film is beyond me.The storyline is like a sort of watered down amalgam of "The Sixth Sense" & "The Omen",but "Godsend" doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as these much superior films. The highlight of this flaccid , turgid movie was the ending, which turned out to be quite the tamest anti-climax I can recalll. Just when you're waiting for the twist in the tale you find out that there is none. Then the credits roll.
Very Poor!!! - By: S. Mangan-Taylor, 24 Apr 2005
Eventhough I had read poor reviews about this film, I was still looking forward to seeing it as I thought the plot looked rather interesting. What a mistake that was!
The plot was extremely predictable & the acting was rather poor! I also felt that none of the characters had any personality & it wasn't at alll scary.
I wouldn't suggest you watch this film, unless you are a die hard Robert De Niro fan!
What A Disappointment !! - By: David Dunn, 28 Feb 2005
Being a fan of not only Robert De Niro, but also of supernatural & horror films, I felt compelled to buy this. It certainly looked good ! However, after ten minutes of watching it I had a feeling this movie was set to descend into the realms of unbelievable farce............and I was right ! The characters were comic book, the cloning-story surrounding their dead son was just unconvincing. At the very least I was expecting an OMEN-type story where their cloned son became demonic & had evil powers....that may have woke me up, but he didnt....he just walked around hearing & seeing things whilst the audience, poor people like me, sat there wondering WHAT is going on ?............and then the most stupid & pathetic endings I have ever seen.......and the end credits rolled, & I asked myself WHAT was THAT alll about ???? I am just suprised a talented actor like De Niro was involved in such a sorry mess.
