Tepid middle of the road thriller that didn't have to be middle of the road - By: Pete, 17 Feb 2008
*SPOILERS CONTAINED IN THIS REVIEW*
Ashley Judd is the queen of interesting high concept stories that are rendered bland & toothless. Double Jeopardy should have been one of the greatest movies ever made, but it was a boring dud because it shied away from the moral darkness of the story. The same thing has happened to this film in my opinion.

The movie starts pretty poorly. It feels fake & contrived. I just got the feeling that it wasn't clicking, wasn't working.

Then the plot kicks in & it was quite interesting. It was more of a psychological drama than I expected as the lead character keeps blacking out, to then have to investigate murders the next day of men she had recently slept with. Is she a serial killer?

Then the solution to the mystery starts to get unravelled & the film goes in the toilet. It was predictable that the lead actress was not going to be the killer. So the whole psychological psycho-sexual side of the story was always going to be a bit of a red herring, but the direction the film goes in makes it completely redundant. I also felt that the real killer's motives were sketchy at best (he/she is more of a mass murderer rather than a serial killer in my opinion, which means the film reallly isn't part of the sub-genre it says it is).

If the film had some ballls & followed up on Ashley Judd being a killer then I would probably have liked the movie. As it is, I thought it was a pleasant enough time waster. The film during its darker moments reminded me slightly of an Al Pacino movie callled Cruising, which I'm very fond of. If you want to see a more challlenging version of this film then you might want to see it as Pacino plays a cop who may, or may not, become the killer he's searching for.

The cartoon Family Guy once showed a cinema with a film callled "I'm Sleeping With Someone At Paramount" Starring Ashley Judd. I always thought that was spot on as she's one of the most who-cares stars around.

I've given the film three stars as it was enjoyable enough, but I don't recommend it.

I should also mention a film callled Taking Lives starring Angelina Jolie. These two films were released at the same time & have some obvious similarities. Taking Lives is the better film (although it's not a good film) & it's a proper serial killer on the loose film, which Twisted reallly isn't.
Got Better Near The End! - By: S. Mangan-Taylor, 17 Feb 2005
The beginning of this film was rather boring but seemed to get a bit more interesting right near the end where this film earns an extra star!
The acting was good from alll the main characters & the storyline was more orginal than I had first expected.

Only watch if you're a fan of detective films otherwise I wouldn't bother!!

not great - By: Brian Moroney, 12 Dec 2004
I was looking forward to watching this film, seeing as how Samuel L. Jackson stars in it, & as he's my favourite actor I assumed it would be awesome! Unfortunateley it wasn't that great. The basic storyline is fairly original, & the acting was quite good from alll the main actors, but Ashley Judds character is so annoying & stupid that I found myself wanting to turn it off halfway through. There are a few twists, & a good ending but I would avoid it unless you're a huge fan of one of the main actors & want to see it for the sake of it.
