They'll get you in the end. - By: Mrs. C. M. Stacey, 28 Oct 2008
Raised from reading a spell out loud from a comic book, the Ghoulies set about causing mayhem & murder. Along with the films another reviewer mentioned i would also add Little Devils. Not the greatest special effects, not the greatest script in the world but its still fun, & you get Ghoulies 2 as well. Takes me back to watching the trailer on vhs tapes which makes the film better than it actuallly is. Better than the awful part 4.
Ghoulies 2 - By: Graham Kidd, 23 Jan 2008
Fair enough, this is a double pack, & also fair to say that Ghoulies 1 is slow, a little tedious in places, & appears to be quite dated now.
But if you're a fan of B movies, along the lines of Demonic Toys, Critters, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, & Puppet Master, then Ghoulies 2 will be a real treat!
Directed by the king of '80's schlock horror, Charles Band, it's a funny & entertaining romp with a few twists, & featuring B movie stalwart Royal Dano as the owner of a failing fairground attraction.
Without wishing to give the plot away, I'd say that it is one of the best of its ilk.
Besides...how closely can you seriously analize a monster movie?
The third outing..'Ghoulies 3- Ghoulies Go To College' is inferior to the second flick, despite a wonderfully eccentric performance from Kevin McCarthy.
To sum it up, if you like monster movies, you could do a lot worse!

Dull and stupid eighties horror - By: Franklin T Marmoset, 12 Mar 2007
So, this guy is getting into the black magics, hanging out in his basement, making it rain indoors & whatnot. What happens is he conjures a bunch of evil puppets callled Ghoulies. Also, this zombie jerk with a long tongue. These Ghoulies are like Gremlins but uglier & meaner & cheaper looking, & when black magic guy invites his friends over for a banquet, the Ghoulies indulge in some violence while zombie jerk tries to enact some nefarious plan.

The biggest problem with Ghoulies is that it takes an age to get going, & then isn't very interesting when it gets there. Lead character Jonathan is dull, so you spend the whole time waiting for the evil puppets to show up & run amok. Trouble is, once they arrive they mostly sit around moving their jaws & eyebrows. You know, like puppets. What you end up with, then, is a stupid film that's not stupid enough to be entertaining, & with not enough demented puppet antics to spice up the boredom.

NOTE: It may be that Ghoulies II is a huge improvement, but I couldn't bear to watch it after the first one. Both films are on this single disc.
