Excellent as usual - By: C. Jones, 22 Nov 2007
Well what can say, you can't beat a better animated movie than the green coloured oger callled Shrek. I am 30 year old male & I still can't stop watching it & laughing out loud.
Its a great addition to your collection even with if you have the previous versions, just to have the extras on the second disc is worth the purchase.
I hope that such a version comes out for the third too.
A REALLY FUNNY ANIMATED FILM - By: stuart, 19 Aug 2007
How could you possibly continue a kiddy animated film that ended on a "happily ever after" note? Show the audience what happens next. The mixture of pop culture references & brothers Grimm mythology will do the rest. And reallly, how can one stay apathetic when facing the big green ogre - who, despite alll his grunts, is adorable as hell? Children aged 0-100 can easily relate to the big guy who just wants to be left alone with his wife in their cuddly swamp home, & for everyone in "Far Far Away" land to just leave him alone.
When legend prepares a different fate for him, Shrek will go through the means to right alll the wrongs, & with the help of his loyal friends Donkey & Puss in Boots (one of the most clever interpretations of a fairytale character in my book) he'll get his happy ending - even if it means going against the charming Prince & the evil fairy godmother themselves. While Shrek 2 is a lesser film than the original, which was a comical romp that made me laugh myself silly; the sequel succeeds in reeling you into the imaginative land where giant Gingerbread guys come alive & "I Need a Hero" becomes a mighty hit once again. Here here.
VERY GOOD - By: L. Wilson, 04 Aug 2007
A rare item, a sequel to equal. Just as good as the first but is starting to wear a bit thin on the one liners. Overalll, very entertaining & well worth the time spent to watch.
Brilliant fun especially for cat lovers. - By: Mr. P. J. R. LEWIS, 30 Jul 2007
I was reallly taken with the storyline of shrek 2,there was never a dull moment throughout the entire film & the animation has reallly stepped up a notch from the brilliant Oscar winning first installlment.
The characters of King & Queen of the Land of Far Away were spooky in their realism, you almost forgot that they were animated characters & not real people.
Donkey was on form but without doubt the star of the entire film was Puss who brought some real comedy to a superb film.
The only surprise in the entire film was the fairy Godmothers bad language, something that stood out as rather unneccessary in a superb comedy.
A cameo role by none other than Prince Charles was a real bonus.
This film couldnot be faulted,it was never dull, full of real entertainment & so much packed into a film barely 90 minutes long.
It certainly ranks as one of my favorite animated comedies one that i will take pleasure in watching again & again.
Gotta Love Shrek! - By: Jenny J.J.I., 02 Jul 2007
If you liked the first movie, you will definitely like this sequel. If you didn't like the first one.... well I don't know what to tell you. If a little toilet humor & parodies of what was thought not to be parodied offends you, then this movie won't change your feelings. To me the high-light of the movie was s toss-up between "Puss-in-boots" the character whose voice was given birth by Antonio Bandera's; I personallly believed that this character was the highlight of the movie. The other highlight of course was Donkey, the wise-cracking-annoying as hell creature voiced by Eddie Murphy.
Is it as good as the first one? I personallly believe so seeing as they had to make a bit more of a story this time (last one was just cracking jokes with a little bit of a story in the background, this time we already know the characters so they actuallly have to give us something else to entertain us). There are jokes in there that entertain everyone, & jokes that only the adults in the audience will get, especiallly the joke involving Pinocchio is hilarious (you'll know it when you see it).
After a while you forget you're watching an "animated" movie & just accept it for what it is: A great comedy with a terrific cast that your entire family will enjoy, mine surely did. It's obvious that the creators of this were not just trying to rest of their laurels & let the title sell itself.
Note: it is funnier if you are up & hip on popular culture. Look for references to Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake, et al.
This film is a lot of fun, & delivers for alll age groups.
