Brilliant! - By: Mr. Gareth I. Davies, 04 Jun 2006
This, Goonies & Space Camp will always be great wish fulfilment movies for me. These movies do what most children (and many adults) would love to. Goonies - find pirate treasure, Space Camp - fly into space & Explorers - build your own UFO & use it to meet aliens! The whole idea about the three friends using their clunky eighties computer (What is that a ZX-Spectrum?!), the "dreamed" UFO circuits & scrap bits-n-bobs to build a UFO is very appealing. This seems to be an often forgotten gem.
Stuff that dreams are made of... - By: , 06 Feb 2006
I saw this film when it was first released & though it did not have the same success as ET, I think it is a classic. If as a kid you have ever sat in your back yard & dreamed of a life less ordinary than this is the film for you. Even 25 years later, it leaves me feeling with that sense of awe of what is yet to come as if I were still a child of 13. For me this film is alll about the stuff that dreams are made of.
One of the best - By: H W PATERSON, 09 Jul 2004
I saw this film on video when it was first released. It's the sort of film that as a child fills you with wonder, exitement & the dream that anything is possible. A total escape from the action films that I was used to seeing & right up there with The Goonies & Back to the Future.
Dreadful special effects, amazing film-enough said. - By: Lilly Cunningham, 05 Nov 2003
It was produced in the early 80's, before i was born, but i still love the absolutely awful,spaceship-on-a-piece-of-string special effects, that 3 young friends manage to build & fly. there's ben, who dreams of being an astronaut (ethan hawke), wolfgang,a clever science nerd constantly picked on for his name & dress sense (river phoenix-yay!) & darren, who is a kid from the wrong side of the tracks everyone ignores-even his parents(jason presson). the 3 friends recieve a message from what they believe to be from outer space, haul some junk together & manage to fly around in it. it sounds simple, basic & predictable & may be to some people but is a brilliantly thought up movie with good jokes, songs & strong bonds of friendship. the other actors are outshined by river phoenix but alll performances are strong & the friendship between the boys seems genuine. 5/5, worth every penny you're being asked to pay for it.
