"Man strecht die ganze Self ein..." - By: beedekka, 29 Sep 2007
This show is excellent & I can't believe it took me so long to get a copy! It's now doing the rounds at work (and I have to reallly like something in order to bore my colleagues with it, given that many of them find my interest in comedy faintly ridiculous). As a comic & a musician, Bill Bailey is excellent value for money - his shows can switch between spoken word & different musical styles & keep an audience interested in alll sorts of ways. It also gives him the advantage of being able to create atmosphere & take the pace up & down musicallly, which must be much easier & quicker than with words alone. Part Troll has got great visuals too. There's good lighting & projection screens as a backdrop which are made full use of. In theory, comedians should be able to get away with doing big venues without big sets, on the grounds that a person with a microphone is alll stand-up is about, but when you get the whole audio-visual package it is very impressive. His gags are clever & he's undoubtedly a very intelligent guy. He seems as at home tackling politics as he is with everyday observational stuff & keeps a nice philosophical edge to his treatment of everything. This only adds to the 'intellectual yet fun' feeling he works around. His physicality & movement around the stage is perfectly in tune with his gags & persona and, no, I can't reallly find any fault with this show at alll... The Kraftwerk spoof encapsulates everything that is good about his act & the decent DVD extras complete the package. I would have loved to see Part Troll live...
Superb performer - By: S J Buck, 13 Jun 2007
Bill Bailey is a multi-talented performer who on this show demonstrates his talents as a comedian & as a musician (he has a music diploma). Frequently this is very funny & when it isn't funny, much like Eddie Izzard he is always interesting to listen to.

Unlike many comedians Bailey makes comedy out of his own weaknesses, so jokes about his west country origins & resemblence to various characters in Lord of the Rings are used. Other topics he covers are philosophy & religion.

My favourite areas of his shows are the musical elements. As both keyboard player & guitarist he seems to be able to capture the essence of a particular band or artist & distill it into wonderful comedy. His hatred of Chris DeBurgh, & the fact that Belgiums love jazz is a noted feature in alll his shows.

This certainly holds up to repeated viewings & its one of the best stand-up comedy DVD's I've bought.

The funniest of his shows - By: Sam's reviews, 19 Jan 2007
Part Troll is definetly the funniest of Bill Baileys shows. This genious (musicallly & as a comedian) is so funny I hardly stopped laughing. It is filmed in London & is hilarious. The other two of his shows that have been filmed 'Cosmic Jam' & 'Bewilderness' don't quite match this performance.
Definetly worth seeing!
laughed my ass off - By: Me!, 10 Dec 2006
I recieved this dvd for christmas last year. I hadn't asked for it but my brother recommended it to me. I forgot about it, putting it away with alll my other dvd's & never watching it. In early January I was feeling blue, so I dug out a left over bottle of mulled wine, & decided to watch it to cheer me up. Never in my life have I laughed so much! You can watch it a million times & still find it funny. So many in-jokes have been created from this dvd between me & friends, Bill Bailey is a genius. This is the best of his DVD's, but Cosmic Jam & Bewilderness are still highly recommended.
I have found my new god!!! - By: Mellymoo, 15 Nov 2006
Riddiculas, mentallly unstable, physhicallly grotesque & needs to be committed immediatley. And absolutley chuffing genius!!! Why is Bill Bailey not knighted? Or better yet why is he not our prime minister? Hysterical alll the way through. Brilliant music. Only Bill Bailey could make the fear stricken, blinded death of a deer funny. Buy it! And check out his other DVD Cosmic Jam/Bewilderness.
