happy days - By: sean paul mccann, 26 Aug 2008
Two WWF era pay per views on one afforable pack is one thing, two royal rumbles is another, but when one of them is one of the greatest rumbles of alll time then you are reallly onto a winner & thats what we have here.
Royal rumble 1991 is in a nutshell a very good event, the event opened with a tag team match between the rockers & the orient express. In truth this match had alot going for it but was kinda diluted in the end as it rattled on a little too long & drowned itself with a sense of deja vu but for the most part this was a good fast paced match.
The big boss man fought the barbarian next, this match was close to 15 minutes long & thats alot of time given to what appeared to be a very one dimensional match,it was bruising but featured too many bear hugs that slowed this down to a crawl,it had some good spots but to be fair was a match that was dying from the off.
The WWF championship was up next,it probably should have featured last, but it featured the champion, the ultimate warrior going up against sgt slaughter who was generating cheap heat by playing a turncoat on america & its culture so the crowd were going mad from the start. The match didnt last as long as the two matches prior, another odd decision, anyway, the match was good enough, the warrior was on good form here while slaughter played his part well, some outside interference livened things up & i have always found this a memorable enough match so thats grand.
A tag team match featured next & involved ted dibiase & virgil going up against dustin & dusty rhodes,i found this match annoying,it never had any real flow & dragged its heels in the mud for far too long,a let down then.
The royal rumble match itself was next & was a real diamond, the winner was a pleasing occurence for myself but aside from that it featured some great wrestlers from yesteryear & some great individual showings, hard to fault.
The following year,1992,featured the greatest royal rumble match ever,it was also the first i ever watched live as a budding youngster, the match was superb,i have watched it so many times that i could commentate on it without too much hassle. The commentary by bobby the brain during this match is the single greatest commentary in WWE history if not any sport, form of entertainment.
The undercard was very good as well,i wont go into it alll as i think i have taken up enough of your time,it featured a good mixture of talent in solid matches.
The royal rumble match itself always included the fact that whomever the winner would be would win the vacant WWF championship & that meant that this was the be & alll & end alll of rumbles & the same applies to the event itself, with both 1991 & 1992s rumbles here you wont be sorry if you buy this.

Best Rumbles Ever - By: , 25 Dec 2004
Finallly you can now get the best 2 Royal Rumbles ever together at a great price.

Royal Rumble 1991 was the last time Hulk Hogan won the event & saw one of the last great matches the Ultimate Warrior had in the WWF (as it was then).

Royal Rumble 1992 is just brilliant due to the genius of Bobby The Brain Heenan & his funny commentary & the excellent Ric Flair winning not only the Rumble at his first attempt but also taking the WWF Title.

Buy it for the 92 'Rumble' Match alone - By: , 02 Nov 2004
The 1991 Royal Rumble is forgettable in the long term but still worth watching as a one off. The opening match between The Rockers (the greatest tag-team in WWE history to never win the Tag-championship) vs the Orient Express is fast paced & the best match on the card - & gives you an early look at a young future super-star (Shawn Michaels)at his very best. The bouts between the Big Boss Man vs the Barbarian & the Rhodes family vs Ted Dibiase & Virgil are boring - & tend to drag. The WWE Championship match also isn't much to get excited about (Ultimate Warrior vs Sarg Slaughter) - yet the outcome was a shock! As for the Royal Rumble match itself - one of the better Rumble's/despite a predictable winner - & the fans were reallly into the action.

The 1992 Royal Rumble to this day is still considered to be the greatest ever - & is worth buying for the rumble match alone. Every top superstar was involved (Hogan/Ric Flair/Sid Justice/The Undertaker etc) & it's just as good almost 13 years on. On the downside - the matches on the undercard are alll sluggish affairs, The New Foundation vs The Orient Express is far too long - The Beverley Brothers vs The Bushwackers highlight two teams that never made an impact - & The Legion of Doom vs The Natural Disasters for the Tag-Titles is one too many tag matches on one undercard. The Intercontinental Title match between The Mountie & Roddy Piper is good fun - but forgettable.

Buy this DVD for the 1992 actual Royal Rumble match alone & you'll be happy - just don't expect much from the rest of what's on offer.

Well worth watching - By: Mr. Damian J. McGrath, 07 Sep 2004
Royal Rumble 1991, Live from Miami, Florida, & your hosts for this event are Gorilla Monsoon & Roddy Piper. This show is, of course, in the thick of the Gulf War & the Sgt. Slaughter storyline, & hence the crowd is in full xenophobic form.

The first match is The Rockers v. The New Orient Express. This is the PPV debut of Paul Diamond as the masked Kato, & the match is pretty good, probably about 4/5 stars. The next match is The Mountie v. The Brooklyn Brawler, in a short one-star match with The Mountie dominating. Third match is Big Bossman v. The Barbarian, in a decent 7-minute match.

The next match up is the WWF Title match between The Ultimate Warrior & Sgt. Slaughter, & the crowd are reallly into this one, with Slaughter getting an amazingly hostile reaction. The match itself wasn't much good, but the result was fairly shocking for that time.

The fifth match was Dusty & Dustin Rhodes v. Ted Dibiase & Virgil, & this was Dustin's PPV debut, & since both Rhodes' were leaving for WCW, this match's result was fairly obvious. With respect though, they still put on a good three-star match.

The rumble itself was the last match, with a whole host of the biggest names involved, with possibly the most famous one winning it. Overalll, the Rumble 1991 is a decent show, with an overalll rating of three stars.

-----

Royal Rumble 1992 is live from Albany, New York, & the hosts are Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby Heenan. The opening match is The New Foundation v. The Orient Express, & is a fairly decent opener. Worth watching, & it's always nice to watch Bret & Owen.

The second match was the Intercontinental title match between The Mountie v. Rowdy Roddy Piper, & the match was poor, about 1 star, but the result was a moment of history, so its a moment a WWF fan must see. The third match was The Beverly Brothers v. The Bushwhackers, in a time filler match that isn't worth mentioning. Fourth match was the WWF tag team title match between the Legion of Doom v. The Natural Disasters in another decent match but nothing special.

The 1992 rumble match itself is still the best Rumble match in history so buy this product just for this match. The winner gets the WWF title, so everyone wants to win it, & the winner is completely unpredictable, which makes it great fun. This show, mainly thanks to the Rumble match, gets 4 stars.

This product gets 3 stars overalll, with Rumble 92 definitely the better show. Good 2-disc DVD, & an excellent addition to a collection.
