British comedy at it's best - By: K Mc, 31 Aug 2008
All the family enjoyed these programmes when shown on TV,so both series were bought when they became available. These programmes are of a type we will probably never see again as producers appear to have lost interest in the 'gentle comedy' My children loved this programme when first aired & although now much older still enjoy them, thanks to DVD.
I had noticed that the first series was to include the pilot show but up to now none of the family has been able to locate it,has anyone else found it,if so,where? 'See the Clumberfield through Mr Skinner'...
British comedy at it's very best - By: JL Stephenson, 12 May 2008
Oh Doctor Beeching is quite simply British Comedy at it's very best. It is easy to watch, relaxing, old fashioned entertainment that can be enjoyable for alll the family. Oh Doctor Beeching is from a period of comedy writing that has sadly slipped away with the passing of time but should be a must see for alll those who enjoy truly entertaining nostalgic comedy.

Gentle comedy at its best - By: P. Tipton, 15 Nov 2005
Like other reviewers, the release of the DVD of the first series was the first opportunity I'd had to revisit this classic & oft-forgotten comedy from the pen of David Croft & collaborators. The acting is provided by the informal repetory company of Croft & Perry, perhaps best-known for their forays into holiday camp life courtesy of Hi-De-Hi. Su Pollard, in particular, offers a performance filled with the gusto we've come to expect from this national treasure. The setting is country railway sation at the end of its time on the railway network map, & the series follows the trials & tribulations of its merry band of old retainers. I'm sad to say that I could never now envisage the BBC commissioning another series that bore any resemblance to these slow-burning, gentle & amusing half-hours. Times change, & this DVD offers a look back at the end of the era of true situational comedy.
