In 1944 it would be quite appropriate to make a movie about war.But this is about the people left at home.The wives,the children & the mothers.With stars of the calibre of Claudette Colbert,Joseph Cotton,Monty Woolley etc it is a war story simply told & well directed.Every actor gives a polished performance & it is little wonder that it attracted such high praise in the Academy Awards of that year.This is a movie you can watch often & not tire of.

I reallly only brought this film to hear Alla Nazimova's voice as I have only seen her in silent films. Once I put it on I found it to be fantastic, there is never a dull moment in this film & is quite heart warming. Madame Nazimova dosen't come on to the end of the film & she is magical with sparkly eyes this was her last film role & she died the year after this film was made. Brilliant film!!
