2 sides of a coin... - By: jellybean, 12 Apr 2006
Set in a fictional school in Bristol, Teachers sets out to give an insight into the private lives of several of the staff.

First the bad bits: The continuity between the first two seasons & season 3 isn't great, & sometimes the plot lines can be a little intense, occasionallly to the point of being a touch unrealistic, HOWEVER,

This is a comedy, first & foremost, & it pulls it off well, i laughed out loud several times. And although sometimes the action moves too fast, it suits the style of the programme. At this point I would like to point out that it never sets out to be "The Office", which was a one off wonder, those of you who have seen the american version will be aware that without the actors from the british series it loses most of the charm it had. "Teachers" is excellent for lighthearted viewing & in my opinion it is very funny. If you want to escape from the real world or if sometimes you feel like you haven't quite grown up then this show is for you. However, if you prefer offbeat, quirky comedy, like "the office" go & buy "spaced" starring the fantastic Simon Pegg!
Top of the class! - By: Laura Telford, 09 Mar 2006
Firstly, I do not understand those who have given it such a rubbish rating as 1 star! What the hell is that about?! This series has serious class - I started watching it because I want to be a teacher (I am 21 by the way, not a stupid child!), & channel 4 has a good rep with comedy dramas...and I was right. I disagree with it's grip on reality...perhaps not alll teachers are quite as drunken, have quite as many illicit affairs, but it's like alll TV - over emphasis! I know teachers who go to the same pub just down the road from my old school pretty much every night, there were several 'incidents' between teaching staff & to be honest, isn't every drama just that - dramatic?

I think this is a class series, with an ace soundtrack...I own series 1-3 & think they start to seriously go downhill after Simon leaves (and then Susan - where does she go, because it never tells us?!), but series 3 has it's moments. I am going to buy series 4 just to complete my collection, but it is seriously lacking in everything the original series had.

Overalll - just enjoy it for what it is, don't go over-analysing it, & don't expect a fly-on-the-walll, & you will love it :)

See me after class - By: , 07 Mar 2006
This is a sloppily-written series with stock characters in stock situations- luckily Andrew Lincoln has enough charisma to carry off the lead- shame the same can't be said for the supporting cast, especiallly puffy-faced Navin Cowdry, who is woefully unamusing as the sidekick.
THE very best of teachers - By: , 18 Jan 2006
what more could you need in life this boxset is trully the most uplifting of alll boxsets, poor simons naivity & his colleagues attempts to help him out just remind you of what life is alll about, OMG & the soundtrack phenomenal... seriously its superb, & this is the only teachers you'll ever need coz as we alll no series 4 is pants compared to the other series, its good but its never gonna be good without simon kurt & the almighty brian, its just never gonna be better then this series 1 2 & 3, hopefully they'll figure out a way of bringing back alll the old characters susan simon kurt brian maybe even JP to make a final series NOW THAT would be cool, enjoy...
