Starts to get a bit ropey towards season 4. Julia Sawalha is no replacement for Caroline Quentin.
A complete ordering of the episodes & Christmas Specials isn't provided, so you have to guess which Xmas special fits in where. Also, the most recent Christmas special isn't included.
Love the stories - excellent dialogue & acting - By: Cheong Koo, 22 Feb 2010 I bought this series based on reading the comments from the reviewers on this website. I would like to say a big "Thank you" to everyone concerned. You guys/gals were spot-on with your comments.
Both my wife, kids & myself love the series. It's just sad that there wasn't enough of it!
Our comments:
1) Good balance of suspense & humour.
2) The dialogues were handled brilliantly especiallly between Alan Davies & Caroline Quentin. We felt that Julia Sawalha was a bit of a let down as we got used to the energetic performance from Caroline.
3) Some of the earlier episodes were a bit grainy in appearance but it got better.
4) The contrast in the characters (Jon & Maddy) & the "easy way" in which they interacted with each other make for interesting watching.
With the Amazon special on at the moment (77% saving), get one. You won't regret it.

Truly a genius - By: V. Stock, 14 Feb 2010 Thoroughly recommended. This programme has gone on far longer than I realised, & it was wonderful to go back to those early episodes with Caroline Quentin in. Wonderful casting, Alan Davies is inspirational. Well worth a watch.

Also its so much cheaper buying this than getting them one buy one.
