Fantastic!!! - By: , 05 Jan 2006
One of the best comedies I have ever seen ....is there a series 3 planned? This is brilliant I have watched series 1 & 2 twice. Why this hasnt been more popular is beyond me.
BBC = Brilliant Brilliant Comedy - By: Mat, 15 Oct 2005
How people can accept "2 pints of lager & a packet of crisps" as comedy is beyond me when there is pure gold in the form of "Early Doors". For me this ranks as one of the very best from the 1st scene of series one where Ken sings "they can't take away my dignity" as he cleans the bogs it gets better & better & better. Genius! Buy it now & stick it next to Porridge & The Office in your collection.
Unassuming Masterpiece! - By: Ham Mersman, 11 Oct 2005
I'll not repeat what many other reviewers have stated, but I must highlight for the unknowing, how superbly made this program is. Mark Benton (Nationwide Adverts) in particular is just great, but like (Only Fools & Horses), the interaction is believable, & alll the characters compliment each other.
The programme much like (The Office), is a unique observation on life, in this case, a public bar run by a landlord struggling to make ends meet. There are realistic types of people & circumstances, with the great balance of comedy & relationships at the same time.
A genuine Masterpiece created by talented people (inc. Craig Cash of the Royle Family), & unassuming because it is quietly standing on its own merit. When did you last see Craig Cash or anyone, talk about this on television? Ditto with series 2; roll on series 3!
Exmplary Comedy - By: Neil, 22 Sep 2005
Watched this first time round as I knew Craig Cash was involved & I'm currently being beguiled by the second series repeats.

This series is so superbly written, fantastic characters & beautiful dialogue. As with most compelling viewing it's the three-dimensional characters & alll of their misconceptions & foibles which wins you over & grounds the comedy in reality. There is the occasional set-piece 'joke' which you can see coming but as they are always so brilliantly executed and...yes...so FUNNY that you have to love them.

The only things I can remember which had the superb touch of this was the short-lived 'Roger Roger' by John Sullivan.

If you are going to spend some money on DVDs this has got to be a great investment - real people, real humour, real emotion. Buy it! Love Neil

Early Doors - By: Mr. Simon L. Edgecombe, 29 Aug 2005
An amazing series that we stumbled across half way through the second series, what makes it even better is that we live next door to a real life reject from the North in the form of 'Tommy', our Tommy comes from Yorkshire, but is the same as him in EVERYWAY, no mates, no interests & no life. Super series & can't wait for the next on 31st August 2005. If you need a laugh....buy this NOW
