A great war film - By: SJ SMART, 01 Feb 2007
I truly believe that this is one of the strongest & one of the most powerful films about World War Two that has come out of the USA.
A group of odd Gis take over a castle in the Ardennes, their commander realises that this will be key strategic point in the coming German offensive. They fortify the place & fight a retreat into the castle as the Germans desperately assault the castle again & again.
The action is very realistic & interesting. However it does take a while for the film to get there. Its almost a poetic, art film in the way that art is one of the themes & the tone of the narration by one of the characters. A thoughtful film in many ways
Its a film that wont forget & some of the scenes will stay with you, the one I think of is when the SS use fire engines to assault the castle in a medieval way.
I seem to remember that the man who shot at Ronald Reagan or someone similar watched this film just before they went out, not sure what this says about the film though!

castle keep - By: ian davenport, 07 Apr 2006
worst war film ever if you like castles & a wierd almost medieval story backdrop & poor acting watch this. at the end germans storm castle not in big tiger tanks but fire engines!!! you make your own judgement as i have watched hundreds of war films this is the worst. Peter Faulkes the only thing in this film but stick to Columbo,I gave it one due to not being able to give it none.!!!
