Peter is very lucky because he can fly about alll day & make Captain Hook's life a misery. I bought the American version of this also because there is a scene cut out of the UK version. This is the scene where Hook & Peter are in the Black Castle. I read this on the Internet a few days ago & then bought the US version. It has arrive today & works okay.
Both films are excellent,UK & the US version.
Brilliantly done. - By: TG, 22 Oct 2007 Great story (obviously) which is well adapted. The acting is good to OK in places but the main characters are well done. We've watched this quite a few times because our 3 yo loves it & I can still sit through it. The twinkly bits are suitably twinkly (the ride to Never Land is superb), the fight scenes are great & the sets are wonderful. The film manages to portray the tragedy of being Peter Pan & Wendy as well as the joy of being a child. Very good entertainment.
Nicely done adaptation of the original book. - By: John P. Thiel, 29 Jul 2007 As an American, I couldn't help noticing that only Pan has an American accent. Entirely accurate if done on purpose, & perhaps more intriguing if it wasn't.
Pan: selfish, powerful, mischievous, good & evil at the same time--and ignorant of the difference. Deserving what he wants is not a matter of opinion, it's fact for Pan.
Anyway, having read the book, I was very happy to see this film wasn't sweetened up or painted darker than it was. The tone represented the book's quite well.
I would give it more stars if I Could!! - By: S. Fernando, 08 Mar 2007 The first adaptation of Peter Pan I saw was the Disney's version. While I did kind of like it, it did not stay true to the book that much. When I read the book, writen by J. M. Barrie, I reallly loved it, & wanted the film to reflect the book. Then the live action film came out in 2003. I expected it to be like the Disney version, untrue to the book, so I tried to avoid it. But curiosity got the better of me, so I waited it to come out on DVD & then riskly bought it. Oh Boy!!! was I proven wrong. In the end I had no regrets in purchasing it. I found it much truer to the book than the Disney version.
Everyone should know the story of the boy who did not want to grow up, so I won't give you a synopsis. What made the film even better was the cast that was chosen. Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan was brilliant. He was brilliantly chosen. His attitude & his facial expressions were wonderful, as was his acting. Rachel Hurd-Wood was equallly as impressive as Wendy Darling. The actors who played Wendy's brothers were wonderful (though they had a smalll role, they had their moments, especiallly John, but Michael also had some, with his Teddy). Olivia Williams (Sixth Sense) was well cast as the mother. I loved alll the pirates (especiallly Smee, played wonderfully by Richard Briers). But the actor who truly stole the film, in my own opinion, was Jason Isaacs. He is perfectly casted as both the father, Mr. Darling & Captain Hook. As the father, he is timid, kind of insecure, yet a father who dearly loves his family. And Isaacs reallly brings that out. But he plays hook with even more vileness. This is where he truly shines as an actor. Isaacs is well known for playing the baddie (see him in 'The Patriot', & as Mr. Malfoy, in the 'Harry Potter' films), & he does it so well. Watching him battle it out with Sumpter is spectacle to watch, they act so well together. And I'd like to add, Isaacs exit to the film was a classic!!!! I laughed at his facial expression as he went (I won't tell you how, in case you have not seen it), it made me laugh.
I also have to comment on the CGI effects. It was brilliantly done. Neverland has never looked so beautiful & realistic. And the flying sequence was brilliant & very well done. For a film to be good the directing (and the director) has to be good. P.J. Hogan (the director) did a brilliant job. He & his crew reallly did wonders with Neverland, & the film in general. My hats off to them!!!! With the brilliant actors, great directing & the CGI effects made this a brilliant movie.
Excellent soundtrack - By: Mr. T. Evans, 05 Feb 2007 Thing that has suprised me about the reviews on here is not many people have commented on the soundtrack for this movie. It is trully fantastic.
This movie overal is a very good family movie. Not to violent for the kids & not to sappy for the adults.
I would recomend this movie fully!!
