Comfort for small boys - By: S. LEECH, 02 Jun 2006
This film is the kind of thing a 14 year old boy would think is reallly cool, having stayed up late to watch it against his parents wishes (I did back then!). For everyone else its dire. Its set in Mad Max type world, but cheaper & with worse actors. Gary Daniels is a talented martial artists & with his haunted expressions could have made for a good Kenshiro. However, the script is dreadful & if you care to watch the Daniels interview, he admits himself that the fight scenes were completely mis-choregraphed. The final fight scenes provide some nice moves but the rest of the action is drivel. Malcolm McDowell must have been out of his mind to accept such a frankly demeaning role. They have made a good effort with the DVD extras, but it doesn't make up for the fact that the film is cheap, poorly scripted, poorly cast, & fails to capture any real atmosphere. Fine if you're a big Gary Daniels fan but don't let your mates catch you watching it.
Get the Anime not this. - By: Mr. R. M. N. Wharram, 12 Dec 2004
A lot of the reviews on here seem to be referring to the Animated movie. This is not it. This live-action version is awful. One of the worst films ever made. Check out the IMDB rating. The animated version is great though. Look for that instead.
Wonderful epic martial arts movie - By: , 27 Jun 2004
This is by far the best movie I have ever seen in my life. The acting is second to none, & the martial arts are so inspiring, they have inspired me to train 12 hours a day & soon I will be THE FIST OF THE NORTH STAR. Gary Daniels' acting puts Anthony Hopkins to shame. The sets look like they took a lot of work & cost a ton of cash. So I'd say, yeah this is a great movie, you'll never forget it.
Awful, cringe worthy film - By: Mr Mark Tonin, 19 Jun 2004
Never have I ever witnessed such a poor martial arts film in my life; not only are the sets used very cheap, but the acting is far worst, with the lead character (Gary Daniels) extremely wooden & painful to watch.
Having been a fan of the manga comic series & of the animated film, I was extremely disappointed after having wasted the best part of two hours on this C-movie (at best!). The fighting scenes are pitiful, with none of the flair or excitement of the traditional japanese animated series being translated to this film.
Avoid at alll costs, as this film will leave you wishing you were blind!
