Hated it - By: Mufflin, 19 May 2008
It's very rare for me not to watch a film till the end but i'm afriad thats what happened with this one!. I found it so dull & 'arty' that it didnt hold my interest. Again its another film that's hyped up so much that you feel compelled to watch it & then come away thinking 'What a load of rubbish'!.
A Beautiful Friendship - By: Rockrules, 10 Apr 2008
Easily the best movie i've ever seen. Laid back & atmospheric, you can get wonderfully lost in this movie as you witness a lovely friendship develop between two people who reallly do need each other as loneliness kicks in & they realise they are strangers in a strange land. The end scene is so touching & you can decide for yourself as to what Bill Murray whispers in Scarlett Johansson's ear (many discussions have been made about this). The only down side is that it's not long enough
It is what it is - By: Freddie, 20 Mar 2008
I enjoyed this, despite usuallly much preferring films that are fast-paced & with a strong storyline.

Both Scarlett Johansson & Bill Murray are excellent and, in my opinion, lift the film from what may have been a totallly boring failure to a surprisingly moving one. I reallly felt the isolation of the characters, but partciularly Scarlett, & could empathise with her feelings. It is far more believable for the fact that they don't end up having a sexual affair, which would not have been believable at alll. After alll neither of them were seeking that, just companionship & understanding.

This film is what it is - a story about two people who find at a particular moment & for a particular time they are perfect for each other.

Enjoy it for that.

what a waste of time - By: Lilacstar, 06 Mar 2008
If I thought I could get away with giving this movie 0 stars, I would. There is hardly any dialog at alll which, for me, makes any deep & meaningful connection between the leads invisible. I think Bill Murray is great in most of his movies - actuallly, this is the only one I don't like him in. He shows he can act in any movie - good for him, not for us. What more can I say? I was bored to tears watching this & that whispering thing at the end...I wont even comment on what I thought of that.

Don't buy it.
Avoid... - By: Pensword, 03 Mar 2008
We left halfway through the movie.. there is no plot whatsoever.. unless, of course, you consider that 2 people who would normallly not have much to chat about actuallly find something in common, a plot.

Very silly... felt more like a documentary about the Japanese way of life than a movie. Very disappointing... I wont say it's one of the worst movies I have ever seen but it's certainly the most yawn-inducing.
