great to watch it again - By: le chic le freak, 09 Jul 2008
I bought this box set recently, having the urge to watch Dawson's Creek again, & I wasn't disappointed. Season Two was always my favourite & to me, it was the best season of the show. I persevered with it for another couple of series when it aired first on TV, years ago, but eventuallly gave up, tired of how the programme seemed to revolve so much around Joey. I think Season Two showed more diversity.
It has the lovely Pacey/Andie relationship which was so cruelly & unrealisticallly destroyed at the start of Season Three. Pacey & Andie were the cutest Creek couple. She helped him mature & start to make something of his life, while he supported her through her various traumas. They also had a great sparring partnership, which was a nice change from the eternal Dawson/Joey drama.
However I did enjoy Dawson & Joey's developing relationship in Season Two. The transition from friends to lovers was never going to be easy, & here it's portrayed for the scary & uncertain experience it is. Joey was still a sweet character here, & I felt for her as she tried to find out who she was away from Dawson.
Jen was always a great character, Michelle Williams is a very good actress, & her despair here becomes heartbreaking. She makes friends with no-good Abby, & the pair cause loads of trouble before they are split up forever in a plot twist that has serious repercussions for everyone in the group. Jack, Andie's brother, is introduced too & becomes a potentiallly fascinating character - towards the end he & Jen form the friendship that would last for the rest of the show.
There's lots going on here, many plot strands interweaving, & the result is a satisfying watch. I probably won't buy any of the later series on DVD - I like to have this one to remind me when Dawson's Creek was at its peak.

I loved he first series of DC, but this one is sooooo much better. I just love andie & jack, best new characters. I dont reallly like jen at the beginning of the series but by the end shes nicer. I liked the intensity of joey/dawson & pacry/andie. I liked the shows dynamic. Bring on season 3

Dawson's Creek S2 - By: M. Austin, 14 Jun 2004
Well it seems like forever since i watched this season. I'm a fan of practicallly any TV show you care to name & i'm just as hooked on Dawson's Creek as i am on other things like Buffy or Roswell or whatever, anyway the second season is where you see things start to develop & more on from the hopeless pining that went on in the first season. It also introduces Andie & Jack, two of my favourite characters ever! For me this season is better than the first but not the best out of the lot, anyone who likes the show should definitely buy this but i'm more excited by the prospect of Season 3
The Second Season ... - By: , 29 May 2004
I gave this DVD five stars. I would have given it five stars had the season contained only 4 episodes as i am an extreme Dawson's Creek fanatic. However, this wasn't necessary, as the quality of the DVD matches the quality of the series. Or, at least, it met my standards, for those of you who are watching on widescreen, with surround sound etc. I suggest that you see other reviews for more details, for those of us who only reallly want to be entertained, the only thing that i can criticise about the DVD is that some of the music has been altered from the way the episodes were broadcast, sue to licensing or copyright issues, i think.
For the unfortunate ones out there who having seen Dawson's Creek before, this second season follows the four leads from the first season; Joey, Dawson, Pacey, & Jen, & there families & friends. It also addds two new characters; Jack & Andie. To summarise the plot of the first season for newcomers: Dawson & Joey have been best friends since they were little, but Joey long since realised she loved him, then sophistacted Jen came into town, & swept Dawson off his feet leaving Joey feeling like second-fiddle. By adding slightly sex-obsessed Pacey, ex-NewYorker Jen, hyperverbal Andy, & shy-yet-deep-yet-sexy-yet(?) Jack, & alll their baggage the show quickly becomes must-see television. I won't give away how the old season ends, because that gives away the start of the new season, but you should be able to pick it up. Highlights of the season include, in my eyes, Paceys moments in the final episode, when Jack finallly gets into the limelight close to the middle of the season, with a story bound to impress (which, for those who have heard what happens, is done full justice by both the actors & the shows producers/creators etc.), Abbys bitchiness throughout the season, Dawson & Andies singing, and the conflict & resolution of 'The All Nighter', this is, without a doubt, the most complex, enthrallling, entertaining, lighthearted, touching & thoroughly Dawson's Creek season of the entire series.
