It's an action adventure/adventure comedy. They play estranged twins with very opposite personalities. Lizzie (Ashley) is very focused & driven, while Shane (Mary-Kate) is more relaxed, but concerned about the environment. Both girls are chosen for a Survivor-like popular game show with college scholarships as the prize.
Shane is very into nature & Lizzie is not. They are complete opposites, or so they think. Both enter to be in a TV show & the producers of the show think it would be fun to put them both on the same team when they hate each other. Shane lives in Los Angeles with her mom & Lizzie in Washington, D.C. with her dad. They haven't seen each other in 2 years. They are both put on team Mayan & they have to try & get along for the sake of the team, & their college scholarships. They of course break some romance rules with some guys.

Both girls are chosen for a Survivor-like popular game show with college scholarships as the prize must see film if you have not seen it good buy at 3.98 great to watch asda is selling this dvd for £2.99 witch is a better deal if you can get it i bought 2 DVDS of the challlenge because it was very cheap dvd must see film it is the best film of 2003 i loved it so much great movie

This movie is very sweet & quite funny, & brings a great feeling of summer & teamwork even in the coldest, greyest winter! There is one flaw in alll the mk&a films i've seen though - what is UP with their cheesy flirting?!!?!? Surely no sane man would ever go for it!?!? Ah, well....its a sweet movie alll the same :D
Mary-kate and Ashely are Awesome - By: Ria Pearson, 23 Mar 2005 I love this film.Whe they have to walk up the rope bridge even the producers were worried because it said in a book about that.It was a bit boring but at the end it was well good.All the bloopers are excellent & i loved it when alll the boys came & started arguing about who were ther boyfriends.It is a very exciting film.GET IT NOW

omg, they have actuallly made a good film. i mean its funny, its cute, its hot, its cool!!
and you know why don't you? cos they ditched that fool of a director Steve Purcell, & got back good ol, Craig Shapiro, who worked his magic & pulled them out of the of the hole
the film is pretty funny, speciallly at the end where Ben Easter, Billy, & alll there movie boyfriends come in & fight over the twins.
Ashley's actuallly ain't that bad an actress in this either, she plays this stuck up bitch role, & plays it well!!
soundtrack ain't that bad either, not needing a spice up, some cool tunes, (well better than the bunch the stuck in winning London!)
the challenge (2003) - By: , 12 May 2004 mary-kate & ashley play girls shane & lizzie twin sisters who were seperated four years ago & are total opposites but they need to work together to survive the challlenge but will this bring the girls together or push them even further apart? this is a great movie that any mk&a fan
