What A TV Show! - By: J. MOORE, 02 Feb 2008
Brilliant TV show which begs the question why didn't it last? Superb cast with gripping stories. Ranks as one of the best US cop shows in the last decade. Be sure to pick the box set before it disappears as it will become very collectible.
Top cop show! - By: Jason Mills, 24 Sep 2007
"Boomtown" is an instantly addictive cop show. Its original gimmick is in telling the story as a jigsaw, each piece being the viewpoint of a different character. This initiallly eye-catching device is used less as the series progresses, as the programme-makers seem to have realised that they had a strong show without this contrivance.

The real hook is the show's bunch of magnetic characters: you just can't help liking them & wanting to know what they'll do next, & they're positioned to interact & conflict with each other frequently. (It's a bit of a stretch that the same paramedic turns up at every crime scene, but I'd forgive this show a lot worse than that.)

With strong dialogue, purposeful plotting, ongoing narrative, stylish & zippy direction & immediately convincing performances, the biggest crime in the series is that it was cancelled after one season!
Arrest whoever axed this! - By: Mark White, 04 Sep 2007
This is an excellent police drama with great characters & gripping storylines. Shame they only made one season! If you enjoy this you must check out 'The Wire' too!
ADDICTIVE VIEWING - By: Mrs. Kate E. Forman, 18 Sep 2006
I loved the episodes I caught of this show when it was on TV & had forgotten just how fantastic it was until I bought the Series 1 DVD & got stuck into watching it.
The characters are so well developed & you can develop a real empathy for them. The multi perspective narrative is so original & enlightening giving a 3D comprehension to the stories.
I also forgot how amazed I was by Donnie walberg's superb acting. It's a far cry from his singing career in New Kids On The Block!!! If you thought he'd be rubbish at acting you'll get the shock of your life!
My advice is to buy it!
Excellent Cop Show - By: , 23 Sep 2005
I was only ever able to catch glimpses of Boomtown on television as it usuallly clashed with other, & in my opinion more popular shows, like Law & Order, Law & Order SVU etc.
However, I did like the directors perspective of engaging alll parties interpretations on the actual events that had taken place.

I watched the whole Complete Series 1 in less than a week, & I was pleasantly surprised. I knew I would enjoy the episodes but not to the extent that I did - I was totallly engrossed & for me the last 2 episodes are the best storylines ever. Punchy, emotional drama. They should never of axed this show, it was still too new & people were just getting used to this new idea. What I would ideallly love to see are the last 6 episodes that were originallly screened prior to the show being axed. That is the closure that is needed to bring this absolutely engaging cop show to rest on the shelf with the other DVD's, eg Murder One (Season 1) & Law & Order SVU, & Law & Order Trial by Jury, another show axed after its first season, that unfortunately did not get a chance to be shown over here! This DVD is one for the collection!
