one for the 'ANORAKS'; - By: R. Smith, 24 Apr 2008
'BO SELECTA' fans appear to be, in the main, geeky, nerdy types who repeat the banal catchphrases from the show ad-nauseum, without adding anything original of their own.
If you don't believe me, please consult the viewer's comments on this subject on 'youtube'; the level of 'debate' is as inane & banal as that found anywhere.......there reallly is something wrong with human society, as this appallling, cripple-minded & stodgy release testifies.
---the only REAL humour is comes from watching rank amateur MERRION [who 'helms' this sorry mess] blunder his way through the ill-thought-out, scattershot sketches, which betray the team responsible for this series' utter lack of technique, or basic understanding of how COMEDY can be put together effectively: witness the hilariously inept MERRION lumber like an awkward, shambling cretin, as he ham-fistedly fumbles his 'act' in this appalllingly poorly-realized, unconvincing shambolic mess.....PRICELESS!
----so wafer-thin is the 'scripting' side of these shows, that MERRION has nothing tangible to work with, & is thus reduced to the [gutter]level of ranting out the same expletives ad-nauseum. Fair enough, there is doubtless an audience for this type of mindless, unsubstantial dross, [the UK has more than it's fair share of ill-educated, moronic inhabitants], & the rest of us can revel in the satisfaction that the plebiscites are kept in their place with this fodder which helps to regulate them.........I can only assume that the average viewer of this stuff toils it out alll week, enduring robotic, pointless factory work......or more likely, is permanently unemployed.
This equallly pointless, terminal 'comedy' is these sorry fools' only release from their humdrum, monotonous existance.

When i say bo you say seleta, BO ... never mind. This DVD is one of the best DVDs out, It may not be a dvd that will make you laugh alll the way through but it does have its moments, & those moments will make you cry & laugh till it hurts. A dvd that is well worth the buy.

Lets get one thing clear here - Bo Selecta is one of the most insanely dreadful programmes ever to be inflicted upon the world. That such an abysmallly written show ever made it onto our screens is a travesty.
I find it depressing that Britain has produced some of the finest examples of innovative comedy writing in history & yet now we are reduced to this rubbish. I'll hand it to him that the masks are a great touch, lending the programme a truly distinctive look, but who cares when the jokes are so incredibly unfunny? And reallly I should be praising the makers of the masks, not Merrion - alll he does is make his eyes bulge, put on a "funny" voice & swear a lot. If you find the idea of David Sneddon looking into his toilet at a floater & exclaiming "f*^% me!" the height of hilarity, go ahead, pay your money, sit back & have a balll. In fact, if you can't keep a straight face whenever anyone swears for any reason you'll be in hog's heaven. Along with alll your other primary school buddies.
I reallly can't overstate how much I hate this show. PLEASE watch at least one episode before buying this (go on, force yourself), because if you don't you could be in for a very nasty shock. It's like televisual marmite - except I quite like marmite.
