Awful - By: A Viewer, 20 Jul 2008
This film is easily the worst Carry On film I have seen. Boring, boorish & unfunny. Avoid.
Carry On Groaning! - By: Stevo, 15 Jan 2008
Carry On England is in my opinion the weakest & worst Carry On film I have ever seen & you could tell by this one & Carry On Emmanuelle that the team were beginning to run out of steam! The problem was that the regulars weren't in this one like Sid James, Barbara Windsor, Bernard Bresslaw, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, etc. The only person who shines throughtout this travesty of a Carry On is Kenneth Connor who does his best & works well partnered with Windsor Davies, a similar pairing to Sid James & Bernard Bresslaw in Carry On Camping or Windsor Davies & Jack Douglas in Carry On Behind.

The other people like Patrick Mower, Judy Geeson & Melvyn Hayes seem out of place & not sure what to do as they've never been in a Carry On film before. Petter Butterworth & Julian Holloway are good in this one! All in alll, could've been better but not by a long shot! Avoid like the plague!
Carry On England - to be avoided ! - By: Mr. Mg Reynolds, 27 Oct 2007
It looks like the people who did the confessions films tried to do a parody of Carry On Sergeant ! Melvyn Hayes & Windsor Davies are fine actors who were good in It Ain't Alf Hot Mum - but they just are not as good as Charles Hawtrey & Terry Scott were in similar roles in Up The Khyber . The script writers have not got a clue about how Carry On comedy works & Kenneth Williams is sorely missed . The plot is thin & the jokes either very lame or just plain offensive with Joan Sims & Peter Butterworth not given enough to do .The patriotic music & Kenneth Connor's powerfull acting are the few plus points in a dire episode in Carry On history . A pity that they could not have got Norman Hudis to write Carry On Again Nurse in 1976 rather than leaving it too late in 1988 !
Ranks With "Carry On Sergeant" and "Carry On Constable" - By: S. Booker II, 08 Jun 2004
Though this was a major departure from the slap & tickle style of "Carry On" comedy, this film, the first after the death of Sid James, continues in the fine tradition of the other films. Windsor Davies & Kenneth Conner perform splendidly with the most effective performance must be that of the topless women soldiers of the Women's Royal Army Corps & the embarassed looks on the faces of Davies, & Conner. Though Peter Butterworth & Joan Sims have cameo roles, they shine through this wonderful little comedy. I buy copies of this film & contribute them to acquaintances & friends alike as gifts. This is indeed a stocking stuffer for the Yuletide holidays. SARGE BOOKER
its not all that bad - By: , 26 Oct 2003
i cant understand why so many people say that england is a bad carry on. fare enough sid james, kenneth williams & other familiers arnt in it but they are replaced by equallly funny stars such as patrick mower, judy geeson & melvyn hayes plus we still have other regular carry on stars like kenneth connor, joan sims & peter butterworth.so is it reallly that bad.
