Business and love collide! - By: John Wilcock, 03 Aug 2008
This is an enjoyable film well worth a watch, with good comedy moments & a nice simple story line.
Lucy (Sandra Bullock) plays a brilliant Harvard law graduate who usuallly uses her talents to fight thoughtless real-estate developers. She meets "the enemy" George Wade (Grant) who is going to knock her local community centre down, but ends up working for him in exchange for saving the building.
He is a carefree, seemingly shalllow, rich playboy & Lucy finds herself used more to help choose George's ties & advise on his girlfriends than use her talents in a worthy way. She gives "two weeks notice" but strangely George has come to like her. He eventuallly shows himself to be far from shalllow & even makes Lucy realise that she isn't always honest about her feelings or makes it easy for a man to love her.
In the end however business & love interests collide & difficult choices have to be made. Your choice is simple however, buy this film & enjoy watching it!
one of the best romantic comedies in the last twenty years - By: dan the fan, 28 Aug 2007
I've watched Two Weeks Notice five times & this will give you some idea of the quality of this film.A good storyline that moves at a fast pace, tremendous acting, humorous & intelligent dialogue,a believable & involving rapport between Hugh Grant & Sandra Bullock, and the whole thing set in some gorgeous locations in & around New York city. One of the best romantic films I have seen in the last twenty years or so.The extras section of the dvd is nothing special but don't worry about that because the main feature is something special.Hugh Grant is best known for his role in Four Weddings And A Funeral but he should be better known for other roles like this one as George Wade - where he plays a more sophisticated character in a more sophisticated film.
Never listern to what the critics might say - By: gozeat, 09 Aug 2007
OK not brilliant not enthrallling, not the best script you have ever heard, not the best film you will ever see but i don't know it just has something about it that well, grabs you & you watch until the end. You buy it on DVD & watch it (well you never went to the cinema to see it!) & you enjoy in a mindless sort of way & then on an evening when you are bored by the TV you look through your DVD collection & you pull it out & watch it again & you enjoy it. Hugh Grant is, well Hugh Grant & Sandra Bullock is, oh i do not know what Sandra Bullock is but it does not matter. Drink heavily & get mildly amused. There are worse films the list is to long!
*snore* a waste of two good comedic talents - By: tiggrie, 29 Dec 2006
You would think that a romcom with Bullock & Grant could hardly go wrong.
Unfortunately it does in spectacular fashion.
Zero chemistry is never a good start in a romantic movie, & two very funny people are let down by an unfunny script.
The film feels like it never quite starts - I spent the whole thing waiting for the story to kick in - & then it's over.
Very disappointing. I expect the commentary & bloopers are the best reason (if there is a reason!) to buy this movie.
Just plain boring - what a shame.
One of the worst films I've seen - By: , 14 Jan 2006
I have never written an Amazon review before, & probably won't write one again, but I had to say, do not spend money on this DIRE romantic comedy. None of the actors looked like they wanted to be there, there is zero chemistry & if you like the actors your money would be better spent on Four Weddings & Speed. This is just one of the worst films i've ever seen, & even if you just want a bit of fluff for a saturday girly night, i'd go for the sex & the city box sets.
