Repulsive for the wrong reason - By: L. Chaney, 21 Dec 2005
And the reason is this: Vincent Galllo, whose whiny-voiced Shane is such a scummy, greasy textbook image of a pervert that we reallly can't see how Tricia Vessey--the too-young-looking she of the porcelain skin & dimples (she even cuddles a puppy at one point!)--ended up with him. The cannibalism sequences (who knew the human body could hold so much blood?) are twitchy & nibbly & even sick-funny, but the film comes off as "Silence of the Lambs" by way of "The Hunger" as produced & directed by Ed Wood & John Waters. One for the must-miss pile.
Absolute and Terminal Boredom - By: , 21 Jul 2003
possibly the most pointless, drawn out & plot-less film of alll time. 95 mins of pure & total brain numbing boredom, almost no dialogue, certainly no story. Imagine a vampire film, where nothing happens for 90mins & then you get to see ONE vampire bite a person. And when i say nothing happens i mean totallly nothing. people checking into hotel room is as interesting as it gets. pure & utter rubbish. this is in no way an arthouse film. the slowest & most tedius camerawork that i have ever seen. The enigmatic & flamboyant genius that is Vincent Galllo did not know what he was getting into when he signed up for this piece of drivel. A most pretentious & untalented voyeur to try & make something which is well beyond the creative talents of the people involved in this film. Whatever the actual idea was for this film & the mood that was trying to be conveyed, turns out to have missed the goal by the distance of another galaxy. Watch it. I shouldnt be the only one to suffer this nonsense.
You'll never give love bites the same way again............. - By: , 03 May 2003
Well if you think the 'Scream' trilogy are the best horror films of alll time then I would'nt rush to see what this 'scandalous' & 'shocking horror film' (The Daily Mail review) is alll about. Simply because it is'nt reallly a horror film. Horrific? Yes, but it seems more concerned with the tragedy of lovers who cannot consumate their relationships sexuallly because of the affliction that in the heat of passsion brings on some rather unsavory cannibalitic cravings. The casting is brilliant (Vincent Galllo & Beatrice Dallle as the two flesh eaters are perfectly cast) & the directer Claire Denis brings some touching moments to the film besides the building unease & the two shocking seduction/killing scenes.
The use of music is very inspired too with the score by Tindersticks (the theme tune is great) which soundtracks the films key moments. So if you're looking for something a little different & can take the premise, & love a downbeat ending too the I would consider 'Trouble Every Day' very worth the while. Love it or hate, it will stick in your mind for weeks....
shockingly brilliant - By: , 01 May 2003
This film is so brutallly made you cannot help but be mesmirised by it. Some people may find it horrific, & some parts unnecessary. However i feel that it is those specific bits of the film which make it so good & eye opening.
This film is very good, & i would recommend it just as an eye-opener.
