i loved this movie, it was a typicallly aussie flick. the story was funny & tragic, toni collette on form. its like a happier version of ..cookoos nest. i recommend

This movie has to be one of the alll time australian greats. set in a psychiactric hospital it follows the movements of lewis (mendelshon) who has just landed a job in a psychiatric hospital. the governer is coming to visit & the head of the hospital wants lewis to direct a variety show. Long term inmate roy (barry otto) has other ideas. He wants to perform Mozarts "cosi fan tutte" & gets a group of would be hopefuls to audition. They pick their six. only trouble is, none of them speak italian, & none of them can sing. Things spiral out of control with hilarious results. Touching, heartfelt & totallly histerical at times, if this doesn't find its way into your collection, there's something wrong somewhere, one to watch over & over again.
