Five stars and then some - By: Andrew Kerr, 23 May 2008
I seriously doubt that I have to take the time to explain what Family Guy is, as the chances are that you - like so many others are a fan, or at the very least have seen some episodes.

In my opinion this second season of Family Guy considerably improves on the first, which is not something that's easy to do as season one was nothing less than fantastic. But Family Guy season two is packed to bursting point with hilarious & sometimes outrageous jokes. Seth MacFarlane never fails to deliver pure comical entertainment. It's good to be given a daring show that not afraid of offending people (on that note if your easily offended then you probably should avoid Family Guy.) I would have to say the best episode in the season is "Let's go to the hop." I mean teenagers licking toads to make themselves high - bloody brilliant. But I doubt any episode will disappoint anyone as they are alll gems. All of the characters from Peter to the mayor are unique with their own depths, personalities & values but Stewie remains my favorite character. It's a bit of a shame that we're not given any special features as it is most likely something that most would enjoy. Some never before seen deleted scenes would be have been good. But still that doesn't detract from an otherwise perfect show.

Family Guy can reallly be enjoyed & appreciated - not something I would often say for an animated television show. But seriously Family Guy is unequallled & in a league of its own. It has got to be one of the greatest comedies of alll time, & owing to the fact that the show can be watched again & again, makes this a very good purchase. Also remember to consider alll other seasons.
My favourite comedy cartoon - By: gamesmaster18993, 07 Oct 2007
This season Is in my opinion the best one .Tones of jokes ond flashbacks which might easily offend people but are hilarious if your not easily offended .The best 5 episodes are :( not in order)

1)I am peter hear me roar ( where peter tells inapropriate jokes & then having to go to alll female camp making him effeminite )

2)Road to Rhode Island (where brian goes looking for his mum who he was separated from at birth & he's acumpanied by the brilliant stewie)

3)Lets go to the hop (where Quahog high discover licking toads make them high .Peter then pretends to be a student telling the others that toad licking is wrong .His status rises in school & is asked by the coolest girl in school connie instead of meg to go to the big school dance)

4)He's to sexy for his fat (Peter gets liposuction as he thinks he's fat & joins the beautiful people club ,upsetting chris who was the one who wanted to lose weight in the first place)

5)Wasted talent ( local brewery opens up tours for adults to roam around . Like charlie & the chocolate factory he puts scrolls in botles of beer .Peter finds one of them & visits the factory only to break the rules & to be thrown out .lois is trying to win the piano contest when Peter becomes an excellent piano player when he's drunk)

A great set of episodes that's full of laugh a minute random comedy fun - By: Low-Quality, 21 Sep 2007
A great set of episodes that's full of laugh a minute random comedy fun

I've become a great fan of Family guy recently after a friend borrowed me this DVD set.
I did watch a few episodes on TV here & there, but after getting my hands on this dvd set : I've only just started truly appreciating it.

I assume , like the Simpsons or any long running series .... there are high points & low points during the shows run .... I'm guessing series 2 is one of the high points !

Like the Simpsons the family guy cast are a bunch of mismatched misfit characters .... but in this show even more so .... including the dog & baby who seem to be both smarter than the rest of the family & have great comedy chemistry together as a duo.

Each show is a quick fire of jokes every 20 seconds & a lot of jokes are handled well & hit their mark deeply in this season. The humor is so random at times, yet so well timed & there are alot of pop-culture/celebrity based gags that reallly raise a smile.

Season 2 of family guy shouldn't disappoint if you're looking for a few hours of no holds barred laughter, sometimes in bad taste , but who cares ... hehe ...

Although this is the kind of humor the Simpsons is resorting to nowadays , it doesn't seem as cheap with Family Guy because , this title started off this way. While the Simpsons seem to be just getting desperate in their last few seasons.

Many episodes are gems in this box set , I don't think there's even one episode I'm disappointed with , alll of them have been a joy to watch.
Plenty of them seem to be of high standard , more than half of them I recommend as must sees.

Family Guy truly is great, unrestrained animated comedy fun , that a wide audience can enjoy, who want something a bit ruder than the simpsons ... well a lot ruder ... hehe ...

An animated comedy with jokes faster than a Lewis Hamilton qualifying lap - By: Lando Malak, 07 Aug 2007
Before I comment any further on Family Guy, I will just get the extremely boring & repetitive comparisons with THE SIMPSONS out ot the way. It is an animated comedy about a family & so is THE SIMPSONS. In this, the Griffin family have an obsession with the TV & so do THE SIMPSONS & that is roughly where the similarities end. Seriously though, do I give a flying circus if there are a few similarities?, DO I BLEEP. Is STAR WARS the same as STAR TREK?, NO. Are RICE CRISPIES the same as CORN FLAKES?, NO. Are DOGS the same as CATS?, NO. Can I like THE SIMPSONS & FAMILY GUY?, YES.

The jokes in Family Guy are faster than a Lewis Hamilton qualifying lap but even if they are too fast for some people, it can still be entertaining & funny in other ways. It takes more than fast jokes to make an animated comedy something special, it needs characters that are unique & are so different from each other to standout, sadly this is where Family Guy fails miserably, NOT.

It would take me far too long to mention alll the characters & so I will just mention my personal favourites, the first is the cutest & most adorable baby ever to appear on TV, NOT. The second is the most stupidest & aggressive non stop barking dog ever to appear on TV, NOT. STEWIE THE BABY & BRIAN THE DOG are the two most reasons why I absolutely love Family Guy. Even just the thought of a baby that makes Hitler look like a good man but can get away with it because he is a baby & a talking dog that is the most witty & intelligent member of the family almost makes me laught to the point of crying. One last special mention must go to the Griffins love of TV because it takes it to a whole new emotional & nostalgic level. There are plenty of classic TV moments, THE FLINTSTONES, DALLAS, THE X FILES, THE INCREDIBLE HULK & THE TWILIGHT ZONE are just a few memorable moments of nostalgic bliss.

If you still have never seen Family Guy & are easily offended, then avoid it like your worst TV programme ever. If however you are not easlily offended, then give Family Guy a chance because it gets a five star recommendation from Scarterhill. HOLY CRAP, IS THAT THE TIME.

Absolutely hilarious - By: Bahlob, 25 Jul 2007
Family Guy series two is one of my favourite seasons, it is far superior to series one which was alright ( still funny though ). Every episode in this season is brilliant & hilarious & the jokes are great, although they might be offensive to some people. Meg & Stewies characters are a good bit different from the characters they were in season one but they are funnier in this season. This is an excellent season & I highly reccomend it to any animated offensive comedy fan
