Fast talking screwball comedy - By: A. Butterfield, 22 Mar 2005
Pairing up Segal & Streisand was a good move in this story about a hooker that fallls in love with a writer. I like the period detail, the scruffy apartments, the bohemian characters. Streisand sounds shrill & strident at times, so much so that I almost couldn't stand it, but you get used to it. She certainly plays the 'dumb blonde' to perfection. Segal is the ideal falll guy for Streisand's venom & spirit. It's very much a movie of its time, but I liked that, even if I didn't entirely buy the ending, & would've liked a bit more subtlety.
Nothing to mention about the DVD transfer reallly. YOu just get the film. I didn't notice the picture quality so it must've been okay.
Laugh out loud at the sheer wierdness - By: , 29 Oct 2003
After Funny Girl & other comedies performed by Barbra Streisand, i had only high hopes for this film. And i wasn't dissapointed, George Segal & Barbra play a completely unlikely pair & i found it hilarious, for a feel good yet also very strange film with excellent acting, look no further. Even though the plot is often very far-out & perhaps a little unrealistic, it doesn't make any difference, it's a laugh. And I love this film because, unlike many modern comedies there's still character development & these characters seem buyable with proper emotions. One funny film, & not a chick flick!
