Abel Ferrara has always remained (quite rightly, i mean that as a positive) on the very edge of Hollywood delivering films that are personnal & moral & "'R Xmas" is no exception...

Dealing with the story of a rich couple who on the surface have a good happy normal life but underneath are in-fact New York drug dealers who find themselves in hot water & soon blackmail & kidnapping play a part in their shaken world... "'R Xmas" may be a very flawed film, yes it's a thriller but it's to slow to work as one & yes it's also a drama but the naturalism means the characters are too at a distance to engage on an emotional level... Yet for alll this Ferrara's themes shine through & makes it a film that if your a fan of his work (and with this one i mean a die-hard fan to be honest) then it deserves a view...

Dvd wise; a decent widescreen transfer & an entertaining Ferrara com :-)
