Unexpectedly good - typical Mike Leigh - at first you are not sure what is going on & if it is going to be worth the trouble & suddenly it alll comes together. A real tragi-comedy - riotously funny at times & always compelling & poignant.

This movie about family secrets is wonderfully funny & touching at the same time, very entertaining, how a black girl, well educated & wealthy, finds out about her real mother. That one is a white frustrated working class lady, who first cannot accept the truth. Thrilling how alll the family secrets are finallly unveiled. A film for alll ages.
