The Godfather of HORROR! - By: S. Gale, 16 Jul 2004
The first installlment of the trilogy has to be one of the greatest films. An amazing an unique story into Clive Barkers morbid imagination. Fantastic make-up & special effects on the Cenobites & Frank.

The second & the third (Hellbound & Hell On Earth) are certainly competative to the first. Unfortunately they both lack the horrors that the Cenobites bought to the first film. The third film is completely devoted to Pinhead & like the second lacks in scare value. Gore on the other hand is top notch on alll 3.

All in alll if you like your horror this is an amazing buy! Imaginative storylines, half decent cast & stunning SFX. One for the collection

The law of diminishing returns is proved once again. - By: J. Reynolds, 10 Dec 2003
Let me begin by saying that this is a decent pack, & well worth having in your collection.

However, I don't reccomend that you watch the films in chronological order. Watch them like this: 3,1 & 2 - or else by the time you have watched the amiguous beauty & horror of the first film degenerate into the hackneyed American slasher fodder of the 3rd it's long stopped being frightening, & become a mail studded cliche. In fact, there are moments in number 3 (Joey crying out to her dead father, the line from the camera-headed cenobite: "are you ready for your close-up" etc.) that make you cringe.

Pinhead gets centre stage in the final installlment, which is a double edged sword in my opinion. Doug Bradley is talented & nasty enough to pull it off, but you can't help but feeling that the de-mystification of Pinhead as made him much less scary than the previous installlments, where it was merely the threat of his appearance that caused your stomach to churn.

The first 2 are classics however - & feel like 2 halves of the same story. Claire Higgins is just on the good side of proper B-movie-ish, as is Ashley Lawrence. The effects are dated, & yet charming for anyone a little disappointed with the sterility of modern CGI.

And there are some truly horrible moments: the distusting re-birth of frank in film 1, or Doctor Channard being transformed into a cenobite by some barely disguised phalllus shaped objects: ". . . & to think he hesitated . . ."

So watch number 3 first, laugh or cringe, & then afterwards remind yourself how great the first 2 films were.

HELLRAISER (1,2 and 3)THE BEST HORROR MOVIE EVER MADE - By: , 27 Nov 2003
HELLRAISER IS A FILM THAT DID NOT SCARE ME MUCH BUT IT HADE SOME OF THE BEST SPECIAL EFECTS I HAD EVER SEEN. CLIVE BARKERS IDEA OF THE CENABITES , FRANK , PINHEAD , THE FISHING HOOK CHAINS AND THE BOX ALL SUMMED UP TO ONE OF THE MOST HORRENDOUS AND FANTASTIC SCARY MOVIES I HAD EVER SEEN.

HELLBOUND WAS ALSO A FANTASTIC FILM WITH THE DOCTOR AND MOST IMPORTANTLE PINHEADS HELL. IT'S A SHAME THAT THE DOCTOR KILLED ALL THE CENABITES AND PINHEAD BECAUSE I WOULD OF LIKED TO SE THEM WHIP HIS ASS.

HELL ON EARTH(HELLRAISER 3)
ALTOUGH THE ORIGANAL ACTORS DID NOT STAR IN THIS FILM IT WAS STILL WAS A VERY VERY GOOD FILM. MY BEST PARTS WERE WHEN YOU SAW DOC AS THE CAMERA MAN AND THE PORTABLE CD PLAYER MAN WITH ALL THOSE CD'S STUCK IN HIS FACE.

NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO RENT OR BUY A FILM CHOSE HELLRAISER AND THEN HELLBOUND AND THEN THE 3RD ONE OR RENT OR BUY THEM ALL AT ONCE. BELIVE ME YOU HAVE TO SE THEASE FILMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Real Horror - Realistic Gore - By: Terry A Sibley, 21 Sep 2003
The Hellraiser trilogy got better as it went along. The first was a remarkable story & as more money was spent on the latter two films, they have even more dramatic special effects. What they have in common is that the ideas & visuals are extreme. They are the stuff of our nightmares. Demons sneak into our bedrooms as the wallls come apart at the corners. And these are demons that are honey-tongued & know our most secret (and sick?) desires.

There is lots of blood, gore & mutilation. Some of it is tough to watch.

But in the end, good triumphs over evil - Just about!

A must see for any horror fan!!! - By: Christopher Cooper, 19 Apr 2003
Clive Bakers Hellraiser trilogy is just horror at it's best. The cenobites, angels of hell are summoned when a young girl solves a mysterious puzzle box. They have the ability to show their victims pure pain & suffering.

The box set is a bargin as each DVD seperately would cost you around £20 & the box set it self, £24.99 so buy it today!!

The Cenobites have such sites to show you . . .
